Los Angeles Rams star wide receiver Puka Nacua\u2019s controversial offseason<\/a> seems to have the team a bit concerned.<\/p>\n

Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic<\/a> reports that Nacua\u2019s decision to enter rehab was welcomed by the team after and amid reports of his being intoxicated in public, a couple of allegedly antisemitic incidents and claims that he bit a woman<\/a>, prompting a lawsuit.<\/p>\n

Rodrigue noted that the Rams weren\u2019t too worried initially, but \u201cit\u2019s my understanding that their concerns significantly increased \u2014 especially about Nacua\u2019s well-being \u2014 as the offseason continued.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile Nacua checked into the facility of his own volition, a source with knowledge of his decision said, the team is certainly glad he did,\u201d Rodrigue added. <\/p>\n

What is at Stake for Puka Nacua and the Rams?<\/p>\n

While many are concerned about Nacua as a person<\/a>, the Rams also must deal with the possible financial impacts of Nacua\u2019s behavior.<\/p>\n

The star receiver will likely need a contract extension soon, and his jaw-dropping performance means it\u2019ll cost the team a bag to keep him in a Rams uniform.<\/p>\n

Rodrigue indicated that even as one of the best, if not the best, receiver in the league, Nacua could still be traded by the Rams.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd, I\u2019d just add this: Let\u2019s not pretend that any Rams player outside of future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald has ever been completely untouchable \u2026 I don\u2019t believe that an early extension is now a guarantee, even if the Rams have been clear they\u2019d like Nacua to be with them for the long term. But the organization has a natural cushion during which to monitor Nacua, as they don\u2019t typically do early extensions until training camp.
