The Houston Texans<\/a> had to rely on several reserves on the back end last season, specifically at safety, where Myles Bryant<\/a> was among the contributors. However, as the 2026 offseason rolls on, Bryant has found a new home.<\/p>\n

Houston\u2019s secondary remains a strength, particularly after the Texans found a long-term solution at the same safety spot Bryant helped fill.<\/p>\n

This might not be the last that the Texans see of Bryant, though.<\/p>\n

Former Texans DB Myles Bryant Signs With Browns in Free Agency\"Myles<\/p>\n

\u201c#Browns<\/a> signed former #Texans DB Myles Bryant,\u201d KPRC 2\u2019s Aaron Wilson reported<\/a> in a post on X on April 6.<\/p>\n

Bryant was one of several signings the Browns made<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n

Bryant, 28, spent two seasons with the Texans, initially signing as a free agent during the 2024 offseason. He played in 11 games in each of his two campaigns with Houston, starting three contests this past season.<\/p>\n

Bryant finished the 2025 season with 40 combined tackles. He officially ends his Texans tenure with 54 total stops.<\/p>\n

An unrafted free agent in 2020, Bryant began his career with the New England Patriots<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He has started 20 of his 77 games played with 254 total stops, 4 interceptions, 3 forced fumbles, 2.0 sacks, and 1.0 fumble recovery. Bryant brings versatility, capable of contributing at safety, cornerback, and nickelback.<\/p>\n

Bryant has five games of postseason experience to his credit, appearing in four playoff games with the Texans.<\/p>\n

He has started one playoff game apiece for the Patriots and the Texans.<\/p>\n

The Texans will visit the Browns<\/a> in 2026, so Bryant could get a chance to face his old team. In Cleveland, he reunites with former Texans offensive lineman Tytus Howard<\/a>, whom Houston traded to the Browns this offseason.<\/p>\n

Even without Bryant, the Texans\u2019 secondary is in good shape. They signed Reed Blankenship<\/a> in free agency, adding him to a group that already includes fellow safety Calen Bullock<\/a>, corners Derek Stingley Jr.<\/a> and Kamari Lassiter<\/a>, and nickelback Jalen Pitre<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Texans also have 2025 third-round selection Jaylin Smith<\/a> and draft classmate Jaylen Reed<\/a>\u2013a sixth-round selection\u2013on hand for depth after both battled injuries as rookies.<\/p>\n

However, the Texans know they must at last make contingency plans.<\/p>\n

There is some debate<\/a> about whether they can keep their entire secondary together, while also remaining flexible enough to pay C.J. Stroud<\/a> and Will Anderson Jr.<\/a>, with Lassiter a prime speculative trade candidate.<\/p>\n

The Texans proved they can make do amid injuries, including Bryant stepping up. They surely hope to avoid similar concerns in 2026, though.<\/p>\n

Fittingly, the Texans have shown at least a cursory interest in several of the incoming cornerback and safety prospects in the 2026 class. They visited with former Miami Hurricanes corner Keionte Scott<\/a> on Monday, per his Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lassiter and Pitre, the latter of whom has battled injuries and is a safety by trade, have both been described as having similar plus-physicality<\/a> for their positions.<\/p>\n

The Texans have the luxury of selecting the best player on the board.<\/p>\n

Taking a corner in the first round\u2013or even three\u2013seems lofty, given their current investments at the position. But the Texans are clearly keeping their options open as the 2026 draft continues to draw nearer.<\/p>\n
