{"id":857941,"date":"2026-04-07T02:00:23","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T02:00:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/857941\/"},"modified":"2026-04-07T02:00:23","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T02:00:23","slug":"rams-projected-to-aggressively-pursue-puka-nacua-replacement-in-nfl-draft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/857941\/","title":{"rendered":"Rams Projected to Aggressively Pursue Puka Nacua Replacement in NFL Draft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">In 2025, Puka Nacua enjoyed his most productive season since the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/topic\/sports-nfl-rams\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Rams<\/a> found him in the fifth round of the 2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/topic\/sports-nfl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NFL<\/a> Draft. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Nacua, 24, led the league in receptions (129) and yards per game (107.2), along with a career-high 1,715 yards and 10 touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Sprinkled in there, however, Nacua had some off-field missteps.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">That&#8217;s one reason why ESPN&#8217;s Mina Kimes and reputed draft expert Daniel Jeremiah wouldn&#8217;t be surprised if the Rams aggressively target a wide receiver in the 2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/topic\/nfl-draft\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NFL Draft<\/a> later this month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Kimes hosted Jeremiah on her &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=3ftifalwCoI\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Mina Kimes Show Featuring Lenny<\/a>&#8221; to do a war-room style mock draft.<\/p>\n<p><img id=\"11790658\" alt=\"\" caption=\"SEATTLE, WA - DECEMBER 18: Puka Nacua #12 of the Los Angeles Rams celebrates during an NFL football game against the Seattle Seahawks at Lumen Field on December 18, 2025 in Seattle, Washington. (Photo by Cooper Neill\/Getty Images)\" credit=\"\" sourcealt=\"\" sources=\"[]\" fetchpriority=\"auto\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"5531\" height=\"3688\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" style=\"color:transparent;aspect-ratio:inherit;object-fit:cover\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2253146978.jpg\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Kimes proposed that the Rams could trade with the Cincinnati Bengals to move up from the No. 13 to the No. 10 overall pick.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">&#8220;The Rams are a little worried about the future at receiver right now,&#8221; Kimes said. &#8220;Regardless of what happens in-house [with Nacua], I think they should take a receiver, especially with Davante Adams turning 34.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Kimes projected the Rams to draft former Arizona State wide receiver <a href=\"http:\/\/google.com\/search?q=newsweek+jordyn+tyson+red+flegs&amp;oq=newsweek+jordyn+tyson+red+flegs&amp;gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIHCAEQIRigATIHCAIQIRigATIHCAMQIRigATIHCAQQIRigATIHCAUQIRirAjIHCAYQIRiPAjIHCAcQIRiPAtIBCDQwNDFqMGo3qAIAsAIA&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jordyn Tyson<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Following the Rams&#8217; Week 14 win over Arizona, Nacua rubbed some Rams the wrong way by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reels\/DSFtcG4gNzH\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">live-streaming in the locker room<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Two weeks later, Nacua invited streamers Adin Ross and N3on to the Rams facility, where they were turned away. Nacua later said head coach Sean McVay &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/theramswire.usatoday.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/rams\/2025\/12\/17\/rams-puka-nacua-neon-adin-ross-stream-facility-sean-mcvay\/87808925007\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">didn&#8217;t [expletive] with that<\/a>&#8221; when he found out.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Nacua appeared on Ross&#8217; stream ahead of the Rams&#8217; game against Seattle on Thursday, Dec. 18, and he came under fire for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/sports\/nfl\/rams-puka-nacua-could-face-nfl-punishment-for-postgame-behavior-11243706\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">performing an antisemitic gesture<\/a>. He <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/47348037\/rams-puka-nacua-apologizes-had-no-idea-gesture-offensive\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">issued a formal apology<\/a> stating that he had &#8220;no idea&#8221; that the gesture perpetuated harmful stereotypes at the time. The NFL and the Rams also issued statements.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">After the Rams lost in overtime to Seattle, Nacua immediately <a href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/articles\/puka-nacua-calls-refs-twitter-051104437.html?guccounter=1&amp;guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&amp;guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAIFH6gAPWaaBNVp72xolZk1YXiJN3pF9Es0m1Qdls4yY9hqtQjkp3M4kSQch1i_AUTyWz6gW_dBL1fQWGp4qkoHqNntJlM9s1lV_VlQZSUux_V0DE-U9a88VQ23ISYafH6D4WNIBOKZW4GZGSDCITHsqRWq25kYVpalWjJSBj1PF\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">blamed the referees<\/a> on X (formerly Twitter).<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">The Athletic&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7174220\/2026\/04\/06\/nfl-news-updates-kyler-murray-vikings-fernando-mendoza-raiders\/?source=user_shared_article\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jourdan Rodrigue<\/a> cited a Rams team source in confirming that Nacua &#8220;checked himself into a private care facility,&#8221; where he has been since March.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">&#8220;Perhaps taking cues from McVay, the Rams did not seem to have many long-term concerns about Nacua\u2019s behavior immediately after the in-season incidents,&#8221; Rodrigue reported. &#8220;(Nacua was neither suspended nor punished by the team, and McVay, in fact, praised his on-field production in the first game after the livestream, although he added he hoped Nacua would\u00a0learn from his mistakes).&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">But Rodrigue added that the Rams&#8217; concerns &#8220;significantly increased&#8221; this offseason: &#8220;The Rams made it clear publicly and even more firmly behind the scenes in recent weeks that Nacua will have to correct his off-field behavior to earn the type of contract his league-leading play would typically merit.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Nacua is extension eligible this offseason.
