However, should the Bills stop there?

The Bills are facing the most pressure of any team in the NFL to secure a Super Bowl win this season. Adding another high-caliber receiver for Allen might be the key to finally pushing them over the top.

Could the Steelers Trade DK Metcalf to the Bills

There aren’t many top wide-receiving options in the trade market, but the Pittsburgh Steelers are always a wildcard when it comes to trading receivers.

Last offseason, the Steelers traded wide receiver George Pickens shortly after the NFL draft, and there’s another possibility they could deal wideout DK Metcalf this offseason. Mike Moraitis of The Sporting News thinks Metcalf would be a good fit in Buffalo.

“But the Bills are lacking another outside receiver because they simply cannot depend on Keon Coleman or Joshua Palmer,” Moraitis wrote on Monday. “With Super Bowl aspirations, Buffalo should be going all-in on putting as many weapons as possible around Josh Allen, as the team goes as he goes.”

There’s been a lot of talk about the possibility of Metcalf being traded, stemming from a Monday Bleacher Report article by Moe Moton. In this piece, he discussed a trade meter and suggested that the Steelers could potentially trade Metcalf.

“Meanwhile, Metcalf doesn’t have any guaranteed money left on his deal. As a two-time Pro Bowler, he’s unlikely to play on a contract without financial security. That said, the 28-year-old is coming off his least productive pro campaign,” Moton wrote.

“The Steelers have a strong track record of drafting receivers, and they have three third-round picks this year. Don’t be surprised if Pittsburgh trades Metcalf and drafts a replacement on Day 2.”

Metcalf Could Change Buffalo

Metcalf has been with the NFL for seven seasons, spending his first six with the Seattle Seahawks before being traded to the Steelers last March. Over the course of 112 career games, Metcalf has tallied 497 receptions for 7,174 yards and 54 touchdowns. Last season, he recorded 59 receptions for 850 yards and six scores in 15 games.

It’s unlikely that the Steelers would consider trading Metcalf, especially since they acquired him just last offseason. However, if they do decide to part ways with him, the Bills should definitely be ready to make a call.

A trade would most likely take place after this year’s draft, as the Steelers will need to find a replacement for Metcalf first. The Bills could be willing to part with a Day 2 pick in 2027 to bring him on board.

Metcalf is currently in the second year of a four-year, $132 million contract, but the Bills would have the option to part ways with him next season by only incurring $18 million in dead cap space.

If the Bills could land Metcalf, they could be the team to beat in the AFC next season.

Danny Fisher Is a football journalist covering the Buffalo Bills for Heavy.com.
