The biggest one was trading away star left tackle Laremy Tunsil and replacing him with Cam Robinson. Everyone knew Houston was a solid offensive line away from making a deep playoff run, and instead, it felt like they were bargain shopping.

But in 2026, things feel different.

The defense was as elite as it gets, but the offense let them down far too often. The front office clearly recognized that and made it a priority to fix it, rather than risk a repeat of last year.

Once again, everyone knew the Texans needed legitimate offensive line help — and this time, they delivered. Instead of patchwork solutions, they went out and added proven players who belong as starters in this league.

It started with re-signing guard Ed Ingram, who was acquired via trade last offseason and provided consistent play week in and week out. Then came the addition of former All-Pro Wyatt Teller, along with veteran Evan Brown. This group has the potential to be far more physical and imposing — something C.J. Stroud hasn’t had the benefit of since entering the league.

Beyond the offensive line, Houston needed another physical presence in the backfield to replace Joe Mixon, and they found that in David Montgomery. Montgomery has totaled 33 touchdowns over the past three seasons and fits the identity Houston is trying to build as a more consistent rushing team.

Defensively, one of the few weak spots was the safety position next to Calen Bullock. The Texans addressed that by signing Reed Blankenship, who should fit seamlessly into an already strong secondary. Another underrated move was bringing back Sheldon Rankins, who played a key role up front last season.

Houston won 12 games last year, and the roster looks significantly improved — and the draft hasn’t even happened yet.

Things could get scary in Houston in 2026.

If you asked Houston Texans fans whether they had faith in the team to make the obvious moves…

[2056
7,221,253,23939,2368,6,222
0":"post-858051","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-houston-texans","8":"tag-football","9":"tag-houston","10":"tag-houston-texans","11":"tag-houston-texans-free-agency","12":"tag-houstontexans","13":"tag-nfl","14":"tag-texans
["GET
