{"id":858258,"date":"2026-04-07T05:23:14","date_gmt":"2026-04-07T05:23:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/858258\/"},"modified":"2026-04-07T05:23:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T05:23:14","slug":"giants-bolster-performance-staff-hire-george-sechen-as-new-assistant-trainer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/858258\/","title":{"rendered":"Giants Bolster Performance Staff, Hire George Sechen as New Assistant Trainer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"inline-text-0\" class=\"mt-[18px] md:mt-0 mb-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6j\">The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/giants\/onsi\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> New York Giants<\/a> have hired George Sechen as their new assistant athletic trainer, according to<a href=\"https:\/\/www.giants.com\/team\/front-office-roster\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> the team\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-1\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6m\">Sechen will join Adam Bennett, who was hired as the team\u2019s new head athletic trainer earlier this year. The training and medical staff will continue to report to Senior Vice President of Medical Services Ronnie Barnes.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-2\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6p\">Sechen began his career as a student-athlete trainer at Penn State University, where he completed an internship.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-3\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6s\">He first broke into the NFL as an athletic training intern with the Tennessee Titans in 2021.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-4\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6v\">He later served as a seasonal athletic training intern for the Baltimore Ravens, where his career obviously first crossed paths with current Giants head coach John Harbaugh.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-5\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6y\">Sechen was then hired full-time in 2025 by the Washington Commanders, with whom he spent a year before coming to the Giants this month.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"71\">Sechen received a BS in Athletic Training from Penn State in May 2022. He also worked toward a Doctorate of Athletic Training from the University of Florida.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"74\">Sechen is a certified and licensed athletic trainer. He also holds a Doctor of Athletic Training (DAT) degree.<\/p>\n<p>Giants Waive Four Players<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-10\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7e\">In other Giants news, the team waived four players: receiver Da&#8217;Quan Felton, safety Patrick McMorris, and cornerbacks TJ Moore and Myles Purchase. <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-11\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7h\">The Giants now have 77 players on their roster, with seven draft picks still to come which would make it 84.
