A to Z Sports proposed the Minnesota Vikings offer a “fascinating” conditional draft pick to the New York Giants for defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence.<\/p>\n
Insider Connor Hughes of SNY reported<\/a> it\u2019s difficult determining the projected trade value for New York Giants<\/a> defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence<\/a>. That\u2019s because of the polar opposite sack totals the veteran has submitted the past two seasons.<\/p>\n In an effort to combat that issue, A to Z Sports proposed a \u201ccreative\u201d trade proposal that would send Lawrence to the Minnesota Vikings<\/a>.<\/p>\n In the trade pitch, the Vikings landed Lawrence and a 2026 fourth-round pick. As for the Giants<\/a>, they received a 2026 third-rounder and a conditional 2027 selection.<\/p>\n The pick next year will be at least a third-rounder. If Lawrence makes an All-Pro team or registers 10 sacks in 2026, the conditional pick will become a second-round choice.<\/p>\n Should Lawrence reach both milestones, the Vikings will send a 2027 first-rounder to New York.<\/p>\n \u201cVikings send 82 and conditional third-round pick (upgrades to second with either All-Pro selection or 10.0+ sacks, first round pick with both) to the Giants for Dexter Lawrence and pick 105,\u201d wrote A to Z Sports\u2019s Tyler Forness<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThis is a fascinating move for the Vikings to make. They have been interested in adding a player like Lawrence for some time, and bringing him in would bolster a defensive line that needs it.\u201d<\/p>\n Lawrence has become the subject of trade rumors this week after he submitted a formal trade request Monday.<\/p>\n Dexter Lawrence has two years remaining on his deal and is currently scheduled to make $20 million this upcoming season.<\/p>\n Initially there had been optimism that with changes in the organization, discussions could move forward. Minnesota released both players to create much-needed salary cap space.<\/p>\n To replace Hargrave and Allen, pundits have linked the Vikings to free agents<\/a> such as D.J. Reader<\/a>. Lawrence, though, would be a bigger splash.<\/p>\n In seven seasons with the Giants, Lawrence has earned<\/a> two second-team All-Pro nominations. But the likelihood of him reaching 10 sacks to elevate the conditional pick is slim. The veteran defensive tackle has never had more than nine sacks in one NFL<\/a> or college campaign.<\/p>\n Whether that will be enough to land Lawrence, though, is a concern. The A to Z Sports staff submitted trade proposals for the defensive tackle from nine different teams.<\/p>\n So, the competition to land Lawrence could be significant.<\/p>\n Another potential obstacle in the trade is Lawrence\u2019s contract. The veteran requested<\/a> to be traded Monday because he wants a new deal.<\/p>\n According to Spotrac<\/a>, the Vikings have just $5.4 million in cap space remaining for 2026.<\/p>\n Typically, if NFL teams want to get a trade done, money doesn\u2019t stand in the way.
