A new name has entered the conversation for the New York Jets<\/a>.<\/p>\n NFL Network\u2019s Daniel Jeremiah<\/a> told ESPN\u2019s Mina Kimes a juicy rumor about the Jets and Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cDude, I think Tate is in play at like [No.] two [overall]. I think he is entertained at two,\u201d Jeremiah said on \u201cThe Mina Kimes Show.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThere are a lot of Tate supporters out there. There are a lot of people that need a receiver. I\u2019ll say this if Tate was 205 pounds instead of 192 pounds, and he ran 4.42 instead of 4.53, I think there is a real chance he is the second pick in the draft,\u201d Jeremiah added.<\/p>\n \u201cI think Tate is in play at No. 2.\u201d<\/p>\n \u2013 @MoveTheSticks<\/a> on WR Carnell Tate \ud83d\udc40 <\/p>\n Is This Why the Jets Are so Confident at Wide Receiver?<\/p>\n The Jets have strangely been very confident about their wide receiver room this offseason. It\u2019s not like teams are screaming their needs from rooftops, but general manager Darren Mougey<\/a> had no problem admitting they could sign a quarterback before the draft.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel good about the wide receiver room,\u201d Mougey shared<\/a> at the Annual League Meetings.<\/p>\n Head coach Aaron Glenn<\/a> shared a similar sentiment when he met with the media for the AFC Coaches\u2019 Breakfast.<\/p>\n It doesn\u2019t make sense to display that confidence unless you know something that the rest of us don\u2019t.<\/p>\n Garrett Wilson<\/a> is a true No. 1 pass catcher, but beyond him, the room has far more questions than answers.<\/p>\n The depth chart consists of a special teams player (Isaiah Williams<\/a>), a disappointing rookie from last year (Arian Smith<\/a>), and a player his original team got rid of (Adonai Mitchell<\/a>).<\/p>\n With all due respect, the other names in the room<\/a> could have been ripped from the popular \u201cGuess Who?\u201d board game from 1979:<\/p>\n If the Jets knew they were taking a wide receiver at pick No. 2, that would quiet the noise about it being such a big need.<\/p>\n The Las Vegas Raiders<\/a> are going to take Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza<\/a> with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. That means the Jets at pick No. 2 will have their top choice of any of the non-quarterbacks that will be available.<\/p>\n Another Potential Path to Landing Tate<\/p>\n Sure, maybe the Jets shock the draft and take Tate at No. 2. However, the more likely scenario is the Jets trade up from pick No. 16 to go get a sliding Tate.<\/p>\n In mock draft scenarios, Tate has commonly fallen to the bottom of the top 10 picks. On the consensus big board<\/a>, Tate is ranked as the No. 8 overall player in this class.<\/p>\n If the Jets paired the No. 16 and No. 44 overall picks, they could get as high as the No. 8 overall pick and maybe No. 7 overall if they sprinkled in an additional pick, according to the NFL draft<\/a> value chart.<\/p>\n That would most likely be high enough to secure Tate.
