The Green Bay Packers<\/a>\u2019 first set of organized team activities (OTAs) that were open to the media in 2025 started on Wednesday. Going into the day, the big question was whether cornerback Jaire Alexander, who has recently received a contract restructure offer from the Packers<\/a>, or center Elgton Jenkins, who apparently wants to receive a contract extension despite still having two years remaining on his current deal<\/a>, would show up.<\/p>\n

According to ESPN\u2019s Rob Demovsky<\/a>, Alexander and Jenkins were among the players who were not seen at practice on Wednesday. The other players who skipped out on practice today were undrafted rookie cornerback Tyron Herring, seventh-round offensive lineman John Williams and kicker Brandon McManus. All three of those players have inked new deals with the team this offseason, so it\u2019s doubtful that their lack of participation has anything to do with their contract situations.<\/p>\n

With Jenkins, who is moving from left guard to center this year, out, Sean Rhyan and Jacob Monk rotated between center and right guard on Wednesday. 2024 first-round pick Jordan Morgan focused on left tackle with the second-string offensive line, according to Packer Report\u2019s Andy Herman<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Sans Alexander, the \u201cstarting\u201d outside cornerbacks in today\u2019s practice were Keisean Nixon and Nate Hobbs<\/a>. If Alexander and the Packers don\u2019t see eye-to-eye on a restructured deal, Nixon, Hobbs and Carrington Valentine will likely make up the team\u2019s three cornerbacks in their nickel defense this season.<\/p>\n

The Packers will have one more OTA practice open to the media next week before mandatory minicamp kicks off on June 10th. It has already been reported that Alexander will be attending minicamp if he\u2019s still on the roster by that date.<\/p>\n
