A champion has been crowned. No, we are not talking about Michigan; we are talking about Caleb Williams\u2019 play of the year.<\/p>\n
Over the last two-plus weeks, you, the Bears fan, have been determining Caleb Williams best play of the season via the Caleb Madness Bracket. We started with 16 plays and worked our way down to just one, and a champion has been crowned.<\/p>\n
Here\u2019s how the bracket played out:<\/p>\n
DJ Moore\u2019s Game-Winning Overtime Touchdown vs. the Packers wins<\/p>\n
In the finale, DJ Moore\u2019s game-winner took down Cole Kmet, catching Caleb\u2019s game-tying heave against the Rams. It was a comfortable win, with the DJ play earning about 70% of the vote.<\/p>\n
I did seed these plays, and the DJ Moore play was the 3-seed in this tournament. Cole Kmet\u2019s play was the one-seed, while I had the \u201cJumpman\u201d throw to Rome Odunze as the two-seed.<\/p>\n
The fans have spoken, and based on how voting played out, fans felt that the DJ Moore was the best play, the Jumpman throw was second, the Cole Kmet game-tying heave was third, DJ Moore\u2019s \u201cThe Catch II\u201d was fourth, and the Colston Loveland game-winner vs the Bengals was fifth.<\/p>\n
My thoughts on the seeding were that I felt the Kmet play was, one, insane, and two, in the playoffs with the game on the line. I had the \u201cJumpman\u201d throw second because again, playoffs, plus, against the Packers, and two, it was a fourth-down throw that saved the season, and the Bears wouldn\u2019t have won that game without the play.<\/p>\n
The DJ Moore game-winner was an awesome play, and it was a game-winner, and it was against the Packers, but had that ball fallen incomplete, the Bears still would have had the ball with a chance to win. I felt the two playoff games were more consequential.<\/p>\n
I think if I had a vote, despite the seedings, I would have voted for the \u201cJumpman\u201d throw as Caleb\u2019s play of the year, but that\u2019s why we put it to a vote to the fans, and the fans have spoken.<\/p>\n
In a season full of absolutely incredible plays from Caleb Williams, his game-winning throw to DJ Moore was the best of the bunch.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A champion has been crowned.
