Now, Johnson and the Bears have their sights set even higher in the upcoming season.

Not only have the Bears added former Lions wide receiver Kalif Raymond through free agency, but they’ve also added the likes of safety Coby Bryant (3 years, $40M), linebacker Devin Bush (3 years, $30M), and DT Neville Gallimore, along with OL Jedrick Wills Jr. and DL Kentavius Street.

What are the chances of them landing an even higher-profile name on the offensive side of the ball? Right now, the odds say that it stands a good chance of happening.

Former Detroit Lions OC Ben Johnson’s Odds Of Landing Tyreek Hill Are Very Good

Wide receiver Tyreek Hill, one of the best players at his position in the NFL today, is still looking for a new home.

As it currently stands, Ben Johnson and the Bears have the second-highest odds according to ML Football to land Hill in free agency at 42 percent.

“JUST IN: The Chicago #Bears have the second-BEST odds to sign free agent wide receiver Tyreek Hill,” ML Football wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. “There was a 42% chance that Hill signs with Chicago, according to Polymarket. Caleb Williams throwing deep balls to the Cheetah would be must-watch television every week.”

Hill was released by the Miami Dolphins earlier this year after managing only a few games this past season; he suffered a gruesome leg injury this season in Week 4 against the New York Jets, tearing multiple ligaments and also suffering a torn ACL.

The good news for whoever ultimately signs Hill is that he’s expected to be ready to go for the start of the upcoming 2026 season. While the Bears have enough cap space to sign him, the amount he’s projected to sign for could cause potential issues for them financially.

The Lions Beat Ben Johnson And The Bears Twice

There were more than a few Lions fans, and perhaps even some members of the organization, who felt slighted when Johnson departed the franchise to take the head coaching position with Chicago, a longtime historic rival.

However, the Lions gave Johnson and the Bears a rude welcome to Ford Field in Week 2 of the NFL season, defeating them soundly by a 52-21 final score. They also followed that with a victory in Week 17 at Soldier Field, securing bragging rights in the rivalry.

The Lions feel like the Bears took something that belonged to them, as they were dethroned for the NFC North title. This season, the Lions will look to do something about that and return to the upper echelon of the Division where they feel they belong.

Michael Whitaker Michael Whitaker is a sports journalist based in metro Detroit with nearly a full decade of experience with publications like Clutch Points and The Hockey News.
