Still, the Pittsburgh Steelers appear to be without a quarterback. A decision has not yet been officially reached on whether or not the franchise is bringing back future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Now, some are starting to get a little tired of the indecisiveness from both Rodgers and the Steelers. Does the organization truly want him back? If they do, why haven’t they officially offered him a contract? Does Rodgers want to play? If he does, why hasn’t he officially told the organization? All of this talk is starting to get to ESPN senior insider Adam Schefter, who appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday to talk about Rodgers’ future.

The Steelers Still Have No Resolution on Aaron Rodgers Situation

GettySteelers GM Omar Khan is in his 26th season with the organization.

Here is what Schefter had to say regarding Rodgers and how he is taking his time to decide if he wants to play a 22nd NFL season:

“I don’t think there is a deadline, but I do think the Steelers would like to know before the draft. I don’t think it matters. If Aaron just dragged this into May or June, you could do that. I don’t mean to oversimplify this, but either you want to play, or you don’t. It shouldn’t be that hard.”

“What do you got on Aaron Rodgers @OfficialAJHawk 😂😂

I don’t think there’s a deadline but I do think the Steelers would like to know before the draft”

@AdamSchefter #PMSLive

Rodgers has spent half of his life in the NFL. Retiring isn’t as easy as just saying that you don’t want to play anymore, at least that has been the case for some of the all-time great quarterbacks. Players like Brett Favre, Tom Brady, and Peyton Manning all had retirement on their minds for multiple seasons before ultimately calling it quits. What Rodgers is doing isn’t out of the norm.

Now, things could be trending in the direction of a potential return to Pittsburgh for Rodgers, but nothing is certain right now.

Aaron Rodgers Could Keep the Steelers in Contention This Season

GettyMike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers spent 13 years together with the Green Bay Packers.

If the four-time MVP and Super Bowl champion returns to play for the Steelers, he would be reuniting with his old Green Bay Packers head coach, Mike McCarthy. Together, the two helped the Packers become one of the league’s most prolific offenses. Rodgers won two of his four career MVPs under McCarthy, and the Packers made the postseason eight times in Rodgers’ 11 seasons as the starter during McCarthy’s tenure.

In Pittsburgh this upcoming season, the Steelers are likely to possess their best skill-position group since the days of Ben Roethlisberger, Le’Veon Bell, and Antonio Brown. That is especially true if Rodgers returns to help the group. After trading for 1,000-yard receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and signing another 1,000-yard running back in Rico Dowdle, GM Omar Khan has added to a cast that already included Pro Bowl wide receiver DK Metcalf and bruising rusher Jaylen Warren. If Rodgers returns, this team can be better than the 10-7 team that it was a year ago.

 Tim Lindsey A Chicago-area native, Tim Lindsey has covered the world of sports through a variety of different lenses.
