Check out the full conversation on \u201cFootball 301\u201d – and subscribe on Apple Podcasts<\/a>, Spotify<\/a>, YouTube<\/a> or wherever you listen.<\/a><\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n View more<\/p>\n Video Transcript<\/p>\n I, I did mock this, but I could see a scenario where the Cardinals regret trading up for Ty Simpson in the bottom of the first round.<\/p>\n Yeah, I think so too.<\/p>\n You know?<\/p>\n ‘Cause, well, I- I- I wouldn’t do it yeah, I, I wouldn’t do it at all.<\/p>\n But, you know, it’s, it, it’s a scenario that we built.<\/p>\n I, I, I keep putting myself in the Cardinals’ shoes because I just kinda don’t understand what, what their plan here is.<\/p>\n Like, w- just, like, to The, the, the idea that you couldn’t get anything for Kyler Murray would make me a little bit worried as a fan.<\/p>\n Like, okay, like, w- what are we doing here?<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Like, kinda trying to move through this.<\/p>\n But- Right I, I think when you’re, when you, when you kinda move past that, man, this division is hell, right?<\/p>\n And, and h- realistically like, man, like, how long are we just gonna sit here at the bottom and just be bottom-feeders really?<\/p>\n because there’s, like there’s no way, there’s no way, like, this year barring, like, multiple catastrophic injuries that the Cardinals could, like, punch through to the top of the division or even punch, like, close to the top of the division.<\/p>\n So how long are we really realistically gonna wait?<\/p>\n I was like, man, l- let’s just see if you c- take a quarterback at the bottom of the first round here.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n You’re, you’re moving up from 34 to 31, so it’s not a big pick swap.<\/p>\n Yeah.<\/p>\n Yeah, yeah.<\/p>\n you know, bottom of the first round quarterback contracts are not that expensive.<\/p>\n So if Ty Simpson were to just be awful, if you have to move on next year, it really, it wouldn’t hurt you financially or pick-wise.<\/p>\n But you gotta, you, I think you at least have to take some sort of swing every year to try and get out of the gutter of this division or else, like, th- those other teams Unless, like, you know, unless McVay, like, really does retire when M- when Stafford calls it quits, s- even then, like, you’re still dealing with the 49ers, Kyle Shanahan, who will not be going anywhere anytime soon, or Mike McDonald, who obviously, you know, just kind of set himself, atop of the mountain.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n That’s a lot of fighting and a lot of work to do to get better.<\/p>\n So screw it, let’s take a hack at a quarterback this year, a small little hack.<\/p>\n We took our offensive tackle at number three with Freeleyn.<\/p>\n we’ve got some weapons.<\/p>\n We’ve got Like, it’s not totally, like, bereft of talent in terms of offensive playmakers.<\/p>\n You just signed Tyrell Algier.<\/p>\n Can you, can you, can you look respectable with Ty Simpson?<\/p>\n I don’t know, but it’s probably worth trying, and if he stinks, whatever, you took him with the 31st pick in an extreme cap control environment.<\/p>\n Just take another quarterback next year.<\/p>\n
