The Baltimore Ravens<\/a> have had a defensive focus this offseason as the franchise traded for and then walked back on the Maxx Crosby deal.<\/p>\n

Then, a day later, signed pass rusher Trey Hendrickson to bolster the defense for first-time head coach Jesse Minter.<\/p>\n

But now the Ravens have the chance to add a three-time Pro Bowler to their defense, as New York Giants<\/a> defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence has requested a trade.<\/p>\n

And NFL.com’s Kevin Patra likes Dexter in Baltimore.<\/p>\n

“The Baltimore brass insisted they had eyes on pairing Trey Hendrickson with Maxx Crosby before nixing the trade with Las Vegas,” Patra wrote<\/a>. “Trading for Lawrence would give them another pass-rush force to play with under new HC Jesse Minter. The uncertain future of Nnamdi Madubuike could also incentivize the Ravens to make a big move to solidify the middle.”<\/p>\n

Could Ravens actually get Lawrence?<\/p>\n

Well, I think that the Lawrence trade request is a simple negotiating tactic to get the Giants to push along his contract extension.<\/p>\n

So, I don’t think the Giants will actually deal away their best defensive player. I could be wrong, but it doesn’t seem like Lawrence will be anywhere other than New York in 2026.<\/p>\n

But if the Giants do move on from Dexter, the Ravens do make sense as a landing spot. Baltimore wanted Crosby and Hendrickson, so getting Lawrence and Trey isn’t a bad consolation prize.<\/p>\n

It still feels like a pipedream, but in the NFL, you never know how things will pan out.<\/p>\n
