Former San Francisco 49ers<\/a> quarterback Colin Kaepernick is in the news once again.<\/p>\n Back during his playing days, Kaepernick was an electrifying playmaker on the ground. He was never quite able to put it all together as a passing quarterback, which ended his career prematurely.<\/p>\n One of the most notable moments of his career that many believe led to his early departure from the NFL<\/a> was his decision to kneel during the national anthem back in 2016. He did so to protest his political beliefs. That led to a lot of backlash.<\/p>\n Kaepernick has not played in the NFL since the 2016 season. He spent his entire six-year career with the 49ers.<\/p>\n Now, the former quarterback has announced some major career news.<\/p>\n Former 49ers Star Colin Kaepernick Announces Major Career News<\/p>\n In a post on X, Kaepernick has announced that he has a new book on the way. It is titled \u201cThe Perilous Fight\u201d and will be releasd on September 15, 2026.<\/p>\n Here is what he had to say in his post on X.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat would you sacrifice for what you believe in? To this point, the media has told the majority of the story outside of what the former NFL quarterback has spoken out about to the media.<\/p>\n Looking Back on Colin Kaepernick\u2019s NFL Career<\/p>\n Kaepernick was originally drafted by San Francisco with the No. 36 overall pick in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft. After an impressive college career at Nevada, his talent was obvious.<\/p>\n During his rookie season, Kaepernick played in just three games. He broke out in his second season in 2012, throwing for 1,814 yards, 10 touchdowns, and three interceptions, while also running for 415 yards and five scores.<\/p>\n Throughout his entire six-year career, the quarterback played in 69 games. He completed 59.8 percent of his career pass attempts for 12,271 yards, 72 touchdowns, and 30 interceptions. Kaepernick also recorded 2,300 rushing yards and 13 more scores.<\/p>\n All of that being said, Kaepernick\u2019s career in the NFL has obviously come to an end.
