While the majority of the teams are probably already laying out game plans for next season, quarterback Aaron Rodgers<\/a> has remained undecided on his future with the Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rodgers has largely stayed mum regarding his status. Will he retire or will he re-sign? The situation must have become quite frustrating for Pittsburgh, especially with the NFL Draft just around the corner<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Steelers would want to know Rodgers’ decision<\/a> first before mapping out their strategy for selecting among the young prospects.<\/p>\n

For former Steelers quarterback Charlie Batch, the reason for Rodgers’ continued hold-up<\/a> is as clear as an empty bank account.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you are three and a half weeks into free agency, and you have not signed yet, that lets me know it\u2019s about money. Because if the Steelers did not want him, they wouldn\u2019t be waiting on him,\u201d said Batch on \u201cBig Play Pittsburgh.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you want him, sign a contract. Then you can say, \u2018Hey, we don\u2019t need you until June. Show up in training camp if that\u2019s what you choose to do.\u2019 But right now, when you have the owner on record saying we\u2019ll wait on you until the draft, that lets me know that there\u2019s a conversation that\u2019s happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The 42-year-old Rodgers signed a one-year deal worth $13.6 million last season. But the Steelers may not be willing to pay him a similar amount or close to it anymore.<\/p>\n

Former Steelers star Ben Roethlisberger advised the team against picking a signal-caller<\/a> in the draft, even if Rodgers has remained undecided.<\/p>\n

Batch, who played 11 seasons in Pittsburgh, however, sees it differently, stressing that the four-time MVP cannot hold the squad hostage.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet us know now. Either you\u2019re going to accept the number that they (Steelers) have, or we\u2019re going to go in here with Will Howard and potentially draft your replacement on the roster,\u201d added the two-time Super Bowl champion.<\/p>\n

Pittsburgh owns the No. 21 pick in the first round of the NFL Draft.<\/p>\n
