The Miami Dolphins began their voluntary offseason workout program Tuesday, but one notable star was missing from the field. Head coach Jeff Hafley confirmed that Pro Bowl running back De\u2019Von Achane did not report for the first day of workouts.<\/p>\n
Aside from Achane, the rest of team was in \u201cperfect attendance\u201d, as per Hafley.<\/p>\n
Hafley kept his thoughts on the matter concise, and downplayed the issue. Specifically, \u201cThose are talks for another time in between Achane and Sully… that\u2019s part of the business, it\u2019s part of what every team goes through. They\u2019ll work it out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Achane is currently entering the final year of his four-year, $5.43 million rookie contract. Although the team recently restructured his 2026 deal to clear roughly $3.6 million in cap space, the 24-year-old is widely expected to seek a lucrative long-term extension this offseason.<\/p>\n
Last season, he established himself as the cornerstone of Miami\u2019s offense, rushing for 1,350 yards and eight touchdowns, while leading the NFL with an outstanding 5.7 yards per carry average. He also added 67 receptions for 488 yards and four more scores, earning his first career Pro Bowl nod.<\/p>\n
General Manager Jon-Eric Sullivan recently called Achane a \u201cbuilding block\u201d and stated that securing his future is a top priority for the franchise. According to reports, many teams called about Achane\u2019s availability, but all calls were quickly shut down.<\/p>\n
