\u201cThe priority is honoring our past and then looking to the future \u2014 updating but not forgetting about our heritage \u2014 who we are \u2014 and honoring that. And we have a bunch of things up our sleeves.<\/p>\n
I don\u2019t want to ruin the surprise; we\u2019re going to continue to embrace our past, but then update it. So, stay tuned.\u201d<\/p>\n
On the importance of embracing the history of the franchise in relation to the new uniforms: <\/p>\n
\u201cI lived through our past. I mean, I\u2019m only 61, so I didn\u2019t go back before the seventies, but I was there for the 70s, 80s and early 90s, right? I lived through how amazing those teams were, and you know, what an impact it had on me.<\/p>\n
I know that thousands of our fans, or millions maybe, feel the same way. I think it\u2019s important to go back to that as much as you can. But at the same time, we have a bright future ahead.<\/p>\n
[Consider], even, the shape and the look of the [new] stadium. When you look at it, it looks like RFK, but it\u2019s been modernized, right? And so that\u2019s a great example. Our uniforms are similar \u2014 I mean, some of the Super Bowl era uniforms.<\/p>\n
There are many ways to honor our past and you\u2019re seeing how we treat the athletes and, you know, bringing back [and honoring] some of our past superstars. So, all those things go into [embracing the past].\u201d<\/p>\n
For me personally, it\u2019s really important; those were warriors that are part of our heritage and part of who we are. [For example], being there with Darrell Green being there [and] with Art Monk. Showing up in Art Monk\u2019s house and watching his surprise on his face was a moment I\u2019ll remember the rest of my life.<\/p>\n
But, you know, obviously there\u2019s been a lot more than that. And we have more up our sleeves there too. There\u2019s an obvious one we need to take care of and we\u2019re working on that. But you know, there\u2019s so many people to honor that we\u2019re going to keep doing it .\u201d<\/p>\n
On discussions about logos with the new uniforms: <\/p>\n
\u201cYou know, we\u2019re committed to the Commander s name [and] we have a lot of surprises up our sleeve this season. I think people will be \u2014 [well], I\u2019m excited to see the reaction.
