But the second round has been arguably the Bengals\u2019 biggest strength when it comes to identifying talent.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"71\">Sure, there are some whiffs in the mix, as is the case in any round for any team. But every Jackson Carman, there\u2019s a Tee Higgins and Jessie Bates in close proximity.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"74\">Before we get to ranking the best second-round picks in franchise history, consider this:<\/p>\n<p>Bengals Among Best Drafting Teams When it Comes to 2nd Rounders<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/01knq1p0mebf6zt8vq9m.jpg\" alt=\"DJ Turner II\" title=\"DJ Turner II\" width=\"5571\" height=\"3133\" class=\"undefined w-full w-full blur-[5px]\" q:id=\"7h\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Oct 16, 2025; Cincinnati, Ohio, USA; Cincinnati Bengals cornerback DJ Turner II (20) gestures toward his bench as he walks off the field with an apparent injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers during the third quarter at Paycor Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Joseph Maiorana-Imagn Images | Joseph Maiorana-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-10\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7l\">From 2000 to 2025, there have been 822 players drafted in the second-round. <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-11\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7o\">The Bengals have drafted 27.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-12\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7r\">Those 27 players the Bengals selected in the second round have appeared in 2,639 games, which is second to the Philadelphia Eagles (2,685) for the most in the NFL.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-13\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7u\">And the Eagles have had three more second-round picks in that span.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-14\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7x\">We are talking about games played anywhere, not solely for the team that drafted the second-round pick.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-15\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"80\">A player that plays 150 career games is an excellent draft pick even if he only spends the first four years of his career with the team that selected him.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-16\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"83\">The 27 players the Bengals have selected in the second round since 2000 have started 1,883 games, which is second to the Jacksonville Jaguars (1,945). Remarkably, the Jaguars actually have two fewer second-round picks than the Bengals but still lead the league in starts.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-17\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"86\">Which teams are the least productive in finding second-round picks?<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-18\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"89\">We\u2019ll use average games played to determine that given that some teams are more active traders.
