One of the biggest questions that needs to be answered this NFL offseason is what is going on with the Pittsburgh Steelers<\/a>‘ quarterback position?<\/p>\n

With Aaron Rodgers still not making a decision on his future, Will Howard and Mason Rudolph are left in limbo as the entire franchise waits for Aaron’s decision.<\/p>\n

Having seen other viable veterans be snapped up, now the Steelers’ options if Rodgers retires are either to go with Howard or Rudolph. Or draft a quarterback.<\/p>\n

Which in Fox Sports’ latest mock draft, the franchise does at No. 21, with Ty Simpson being selected.<\/p>\n

“Simpson is the clear No. 2 QB in this draft. He’s had a mix of incredible games along with some terrible ones, but his decisiveness and accuracy are tools teams can work with,” the website wrote<\/a>.
“He threw for over 3,500 yards, 28 touchdowns and just five interceptions. He also took down a vaunted\u00a0Oklahoma<\/a>\u00a0defense on the road in the first round of the CFP, before sustaining an injury in the quarterfinals against Indiana.”<\/p>\n

Would Simpson be right move?<\/p>\n

The thing is, we have seen varying reports on Simpson.<\/p>\n

Some think he isn’t a first-round talent, others think he might be, but towards the backend for a team like the Arizona Cardinals<\/a> or the New York Jets<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But with next year’s quarterback draft class reportedly having several top prospects, the Steelers jumping at Simpson here might not be the best course of action.<\/p>\n

See what you have in Howard. If it works, you have your guy long-term; if it doesn’t, you will likely have a high draft pick to select your next quarterback.<\/p>\n

What Pittsburgh does is going to be fascinating, but I’m not sure taking Simpson in the first round is a sound move.<\/p>\n
