During a time in the offseason where real news is hard to come by, this video emerged of Stevenson speaking to what motivates him (note that this video does contain adult language):<\/p>\n
Yesterday, Adam Hoge of CHGO noted that the Bears \u201cstill view fourth-year corner Tyrique Stevenson as a starter, even though he didn\u2019t finish the 2025 season in that standing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Safe to say that Tyrique is ready to prove himself in a big contract year.<\/p>\n
Still \u2014 it is easy to see why many might be leery of his effort and abilities after an up-and-down first three seasons in the NFL highlighted by big time turnovers and marred by big time mental errors.<\/p>\n
Do you trust Tyrique Stevenson as CB2? <\/p>\n
Personally, I do. In fact, as the Nashon Wright experiment began to fizzle out towards the end of the 2025 season, I was arguing that Stevenson deserved a chance to prove himself as the starting cornerback opposite Jaylon Johnson entering the playoffs. He proved himself in week 17 with a 75.4 pff grade despite limited snaps, while allowing a passer rating of 39.6 (in a game where Purdy was lights out no less).<\/p>\n

In fact, in Stevenson\u2019s last five contexts (including the two playoff games) he allowed a passer rating of 77.1, 56.2, 39.6, 39.6, and 77.1. That comes out to a strong 57.6 passer rating allowed in those regular season contests and 67.7 in the playoffs \u2014 which should give us some degree of confidence in his trajectory coming into 2026.<\/p>\n
Still, it\u2019s easy to get worried that Stevenson could revert to his old habits that undercut his clear talent. In three of his starts last season, he gave up 4 or more completions, all totaling greater than 96 yards. That simply won\u2019t cut it.<\/p>\n
However, if Stevenson can prove that he has faced down the noise and turned the page, he has my confidence that he will be a very good CB2 for the Bears in 2026.<\/p>\n
