However, just because the Bills invested a second-round pick to acquire Moore doesn’t mean they won’t consider selecting another receiver in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft.

Could The Bills Still be Looking to Add Another Receiver in Round One

ESPN published an article outlining what analysts from every team are saying just two weeks away from the draft. Bills reporter Alaina Getzenberg still suggested that selecting a wide receiver with Buffalo’s first-round pick could be on the table.

“Trading for Moore gives the Bills flexibility to not have to address wide receiver in the first round and prioritize other needs, but it does not mean the position won’t and shouldn’t be considered early,” Getzenberg wrote on Thursday. “Help is still needed from both a depth and talent perspective, and president of football operations and general manager Brandon Beane said Buffalo is still open to a receiver in the first round. The Bills have a variety of positions to address in the draft, and trading away their second-round pick limits some options, but an early receiver pick shouldn’t be ruled out.”

It seems there’s a recurring theme with the Bills potentially targeting a wide receiver in the first round. ESPN draft analyst Jordan Reid also mentioned that he’s been hearing whispers about wide receiver and linebacker being two positions closely linked to the Bills.

“Wide receiver and linebacker are the two positions that have been heavily linked to the Bills,” Reid wrote on Thursday. “Even after the acquisition of Moore, they are looking for true separators who can play a multitude of spots in formations. On the linebacker front, one name to watch is Josiah Trotter (Missouri). He’s a high-upside option who can be a long-term contributor in the middle.”

Buffalo Has to Find a Young WR For Josh Allen

The Bills still need to find an exciting young receiver to pair with quarterback Josh Allen for the future, and selecting one with the 26th pick this year could be a significant step forward in giving Allen that vital weapon.

Buffalo aimed to team up Allen with a young playmaker two years ago when the Bills selected Florida State wide receiver Keon Coleman in the second round. However, his first two seasons have not gone as expected. In two seasons, Coleman played in 26 games, recording 67 receptions for 960 yards and eight touchdowns.

One of the reasons the Bills had to trade for Moore was that Coleman hadn’t lived up to the hype. This could also be another factor driving Buffalo to consider adding another receiver in the first round this year.

It will be interesting to see which direction the Bills choose in the first round. There’s always a chance that Buffalo might trade its first-round pick for an early second-round pick, similar to what it did two years ago when the Bills drafted Coleman.

Danny Fisher Is a football journalist covering the Buffalo Bills for Heavy.com.
