Many mock drafts have the team taking a defender, but the idea of adding another weapon for Jayden Daniels is also enticing.

However, the Commanders only have two picks in the top 100 and are without a second and fourth rounder thanks to the Laremy Tunsil trade. In total, the team only has six picks after making just five selections in last year’s draft. As a result, the idea of trading back from No. 7 is also interesting.

In fact, that’s exactly what ESPN’s Bill Barnwell has the Commanders doing in his latest mock. Barnwell predicts the Baltimore Ravens will send the No. 14 pick, a 2026 third-round pick, a 2026 fifth-round pick, and a 2027 third-round pick to move up to No. 7. This would still leave the Commanders without a second or fourth rounder but adding an extra third and fifth this year could be enticing enough.

Regarding this potential deal, Barnwell offered the following:

There might not be a huge demand to move up in this year’s draft, but if one of those aforementioned defensive standouts remains available at No. 7, I wonder if the Ravens might come calling. We saw Baltimore very nearly trade two first-round picks for Maxx Crosby, and though that trade was eventually abandoned for the signing of Trey Hendrickson, general manager Eric DeCosta suggested afterward that the Ravens were interested in trading for Crosby and signing Hendrickson. That possibility certainly hints toward the Ravens pursuing pass-rush help at the top of this draft.

As Barnwell mentioned, there may not be much demand to move up, but if a defender falls, the Ravens could come calling. The team clearly wants to improve its defense after the failed Maxx Crosby trade, and the Commanders are arguably the most likely team to move back.

A deal like this happening could depend on how the board falls for the Commanders. If star running back Jeremiyah Love is somehow still available at No. 7, it’s hard to imagine the Commanders trading back. However, if players like Love, Caleb Downs, and Sonny Styles are all off the board, it wouldn’t be shocking to see a move back.

Going from No. 7 to No. 14, the Commanders could likely still land a solid wide receiver or edge rusher. Either way, we don’t have to wait much longer to find out.

This article originally appeared on Commanders Wire: Washington Commanders predicted to trade back in new 2026 mock draft

We’re now just two weeks away from one of the most exciting sports events of the year: the…

[3
117,21637,7,734,594,6563,6,111
0":"post-863041","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-nfl","8":"tag-baltimore-ravens","9":"tag-bill-barnwell","10":"tag-football","11":"tag-jayden-daniels","12":"tag-laremy-tunsil","13":"tag-maxx-crosby","14":"tag-nfl","15":"tag-washington-commanders
["GET
