Pittsburgh is continuing to meet with prospects and has just a few days left to finalize pre-draft visits before the draft rolls around. Rumors are flying about the Steelers’ potential first-round options, and they have several positions they can consider with the 21st overall pick. Whatever they choose, they won’t feel too desperate with five total picks in the first three rounds.

The Steelers have met with a few interesting players at key positions. At quarterback they’ve met with Cole Payton, Taylen Green and Carson Beck. The Steelers have also met with several receivers and defensive backs, as well as offensive and defensive linemen. Some first-round talents they’ve met with include Denzel Boston, Makai Lemon Emmanuel McNeil-Warren, and Jacob Rodriguez, whom some believe is a first-round pick.

Aside from the draft, there hasn’t been a ton of news. The Steelers are, of course, still waiting on Aaron Rodgers, but we don’t seem any closer to a decision than a week ago. Art Rooney II has said he expects an answer before the draft, which is 13 days away as of this writing.

As always, we’re here with you throughout the weekend for whatever news comes our way.

Have a safe and happy weekend.

Top-Read Posts Of The Week

Paglia’s Mock Draft
Christian Kuntz Talks Mike McCarthy’s First Address
Bryan Explains Patrick Queen Trade Possibilities
Steelers Host Three For Pre-Draft Visits
McShay Talks Draft’s Most Underrated Prospect

Peace and love, peace and love!

1 – Will Darnell Savage officially become a Steeler next week?

2 – Between Carson Beck, Drew Allar and Cole Payton, who is your favorite quarterback prospect?

3 – How many of Pittsburgh’s pre-draft visitors will the Steelers select?

4 – Of these three choices, who is the best value: Denzel Boston in Round 1, Germie Bernard in Round 2, or Skylar Bell in Round 3?

5 – Is WR or OL a bigger need in the first round?

Recap: First Weekend Of April: Steelers Friday Night Five Questions

Q1: Does Mike McCarthy’s lack of pro day visits concern you?

Overall, Steelers Depot respondents are not concerned about Mike McCarthy generally not attending pro days. However, Ted Webb expresses mild concern, stating, “I’m old school, you won’t learn anymore watching them work out, but I like to look prospects in the eyes and see how they interact with their teammates on and off the field.”

Q2: Do you support the rule change allowing on-field officials to consult with league personnel when considering ejections? DK Metcalf in Detroit last year is an example of when that might be used.

A slight 6-to-5 majority supports the rule change allowing NFL officials to officiate remotely when considering ejections. Reactions vary: Rock3373 opposes, saying, “No. Sounds like a distraction to the game. Too many distractions already.” In contrast, Ted Webb supports it “for serious stuff and as long as it’s quick and easy.” The NFL ultimately passed the rule, which required 24 votes. League office personnel can now consult with the on-field crew regarding potential disqualifications for:
– Flagrant football acts (e.g., unnecessary roughness, late hits, etc.).
– Non-football acts (e.g., fighting, unsportsmanlike conduct toward fans or opponents away from the play). This applies even if no flag was thrown. The league can instruct officials to disqualify a player if the act is flagrant. An amendment also allows the league to retroactively add a flag.

Q3: On a scale of 1 (very bad) to 10 (very good), how satisfied are you with the Steelers’ pre-draft roster?

Respondents were overall satisfied with the Steelers’ pre-draft roster, as reflected by the median score of 7 on a 10-point scale. Notably, Aaron Rodgers’ status affected these scores. For example, Shaun Horrigan gave a “7 WITH RODGERS… 5 WITHOUT.”

Q4: Which position group is the weakest on the Steelers’ roster?

Four people called quarterback the weakest, unsurprising given Rodgers’ status. A couple noted that the void at left guard after Isaac Seumalo’s departure weakened the offensive line. Five still cited wide receiver as weakest, despite the Michael Pittman Jr. trade. As Ginko18 put it: “Ignoring the obvious QB, WR is first with ILB second.”

Q5: Will you be attending the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh?

Only Ted Webb and I plan to attend the draft, but several others said they will be watching the coverage. Keep an eye out for us.

Consensus vs. Correct Answers

Questions
SD Consensus
Correct Answers

Concerned about McCarthy’s lack of pro-day visits?
No
Up to you!

Support NFL rule changes?
Yes
Up to you!

Pre-draft roster satisfaction?
Seven
Up to you!

Weakest current position group?
WR
Up to you!

Attending the draft?
No
Up to you!

April 15 is the deadline for clubs to time, test, visit, interview, or examine a draft-eligible player at their facility.
