The Washington Commanders<\/a> could use a little toughness at wide receiver in 2026 \u2014 something that was in short supply at the position in 2025 as the team stumbled to a 5-12 record.<\/p>\n One sign that help might be on the way showed up at the team\u2019s facilities on a Top 30 visit on Friday in the form of Indiana University wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr.<\/p>\n Cooper, 6-foot and 199 pounds, showed he might be ready to step in and help a team from Day 1 after helping lead the Hoosiers to an undefeated season and the 1st national championship in program history.<\/p>\n \u201cFormer Indiana WR Omar Cooper Jr. is visiting the Commanders today, per source,\u201d NFL Network\u2019s Tom Pelissero wrote<\/a> on his official X account on Friday. \u201cCooper has had five visits so far, with four more scheduled after Washington.\u201d<\/p>\n The Athletic\u2019s Dane Brugler<\/a> put Cooper as his No. 5-rated wide receiver in \u201cThe Beast\u201d \u2014 his venerated annual draft guide.<\/p>\n \u201cCooper will be an attractive draft target for the NFL<\/a> teams that put high value on ball skills and run-after-catch ability,\u201d Brugler wrote. \u201cHe projects as an inside-outside receiver who can be weaponized when featured.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n \n\t\t\tTony Adame<\/a> covers the NFL for Heavy.com, with a focus on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Commanders, Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos.
