In the long, slow grind of the NFL offseason, we never have to worry about content or controversy thanks to being in the Player Podcast Era \u2014 where seemingly everyone who has ever put on a jersey gets a microphone in their face to share their thoughts.<\/p>\n
In that microcosm, sometimes saying the wildest (or dumbest) thing turns into a competition.<\/p>\n
Take the recent comments from Washington Commanders<\/a> edge rusher and Super Bowl champion Charles Omenihu<\/a>, who made some pretty off-the-wall comments during a recent appearance on the Speakeasy podcast.<\/p>\n Omenihu, for some reason, decided to take shots at 2 of the most powerful entities in the league \u2014 Baltimore Ravens quarterback and 2-time NFL MVP Lamar Jackson<\/a> and the entire Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> organization.<\/p>\n \u201cLamar, honestly, you bring a 5-man rush on him and collapse that pocket, he\u2019ll make a play that isn\u2019t the best for the Ravens,\u201d Omenihu said<\/a>. \u201cThe league hasn\u2019t figured out (Buffalo Bills<\/a> quarterback) Josh Allen yet. They\u2019ve figured out Lamar Jackson.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n Jackson, who is coming off arguably the worst season of his career in 2025, seemed to respond to Omenihu\u2019s comments on Friday.<\/p>\n \u201cInstead of trying to bring me down, ask GOD to bring you up,\u201d Jackson wrote<\/a> on his official X account. \u201c#JESUSCHRISTKINGOFKINGS\u201d<\/p>\n Lamar Jackson was DEVASTATED that he couldn\u2019t get the ball to Rashod Bateman for a TD on the play that instead was a Charles Omenihu strip-sack<\/p>\n \u201cThat was six. DAMN THAT WAS SIX! That was a touchdown. That damn strip sack, should have been 14-14 right now\u201d <\/p>\n Omenihu Can\u2019t Stop Talking About Lamar Jackson<\/p>\n For some reason, Omenihu really likes to talk about Jackson in interviews.<\/p>\n Omenihu signed a 1-year, $7 million free-agent contract with the Commanders in March but spent the last 3 seasons playing for the Kansas City Chiefs<\/a>, including a Super Bowl win following the 2023 season.<\/p>\n \u201cWith Lamar, I think you just gotta harass him,\u201d Omenihu said<\/a> before the Chiefs defeated the Ravens in Week 4 of the 2025 regular season. \u201cMake it uncomfortable for him. You wanna get to his legs.\u201d<\/p>\n Omenihu\u2019s recent comments about Jackson weren\u2019t the only wild thing he said in the Speakeasy interview. He also claimed the San Francisco 49ers<\/a> team he was on that lost to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl following the 2022 season was better than the Eagles team that routed the Chiefs in the Super Bowl following the 2024 season \u2014 a game in which Omenihu famously bawled his eyes out on the sideline late in the 4th quarter.<\/p>\n Eagles Fans Don\u2019t Take Kindly to Diss<\/p>\n Eagles fans, as could be expected, were quick to remind Omenihu of his emotional sideline meltdown during the Super Bowl loss.<\/p>\n \u201cHad to be babied on the bench cause the belt was STINGING child please lmaooo,\u201d Eagles fan Slimm wrote<\/a> on their official X account.<\/p>\n \u201cBud, you were CRYING,\u201d Eagles fan George Basile wrote<\/a> on his official X account. \u201cKenny Pickett was taking snaps while you were CRYING.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBro was caught in 4k crying tho,\u201d Philly Talk Podcast wrote<\/a> on its official X account.<\/p>\n It was a weird move by Omenihu to criticize Jackson now, of at all times, after he showed up for Ravens\u2019 offseason workouts this week<\/a> after skipping the entirety of the voluntary workout portion of the offseason for most of his career.<\/p>\n \u201cEveryone echoes what\u00a0Lamar Jackson<\/a>\u00a0does,\u201d ESPN analyst and former\u00a0NFL<\/a> quarterback Dan Orlovsky said on Monday.\u00a0 \u201cThis is a good start for the organization under new head coach Jesse Minter.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\t\tTony Adame<\/a> covers the NFL for Heavy.com, with a focus on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Commanders, Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles and Denver Broncos.
