{"id":863682,"date":"2026-04-11T04:39:26","date_gmt":"2026-04-11T04:39:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/863682\/"},"modified":"2026-04-11T04:39:26","modified_gmt":"2026-04-11T04:39:26","slug":"coty-mike-vrabel-lands-low-on-nbcs-head-coach-rankings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/863682\/","title":{"rendered":"COTY Mike Vrabel Lands Low On NBC&#8217;s Head Coach Rankings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Is it possible that reigning NFL Coach of the Year Mike Vrabel has become underrated since taking the <a href=\"https:\/\/nesn.com\/new-england-patriots\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New England Patriots<\/a> to the Super Bowl in his first season at the helm?<\/p>\n<p>Patrick Daugherty of NBC Sports posted his definitive <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/fantasy\/football\/news\/rotopats-2026-nfl-head-coach-rankings-analysis-for-all-32-teams\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">2026 head coach rankings<\/a> across the league, and Vrabel earned the seventh spot.<\/p>\n<p>On one hand, four of the six coaches in front of him have won a Lombardi Trophy in their careers. On the other hand, people like Sean Payton and Jim Harbaugh, whom Vrabel beat head-to-head in the playoffs just this past year, are ranked fifth and sixth, respectively.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Vrabel took over a bad roster with a losing pedigree and, in less than 12 months, turned it into a Super Bowl berth and a clear culture reset. It feels as though that is lost on the general public due to the outcome of the Patriots\u2019 21st game of the season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Even the ranker himself, Daugherty, presented no case for why Vrabel would be ranked this low.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Patriots decided to run an experiment: What might the details-oriented, player-friendly Vrabel accomplish with a young franchise quarterback?\u201d Daugherty wrote. \u201cIt\u2019s doubtful even they thought the answer would be \u2018instantly make the Super Bowl,&#8217; but that\u2019s where Vrabel\u2019s squad ended the year \u2026 after another season of overachievement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He then admits that Vrabel made much more with less in his first season in Foxboro. To me, I can not think of a clearer example of what a good coach does.
