The team also signed guard <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/los-angeles-chargers\/chargers-add-oline-guard-cole-strange\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cole Strange<\/a>, who is expected to become the starting right guard, replacing the released <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/mekhi-becton\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mehki Becton<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/joe-alt\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Joe Alt<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/rashawn-slater\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rashawn Slater<\/a> are coming back from season-ending injuries to protect Herbert on the edges.<\/p>\n<p>While the interior O-line has received some help in free agency, the Bolts appear to bring in another option through the upcoming draft.<\/p>\n<p>Chargers to Meet with Guard Ahead of Draft<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5853300\" class=\"size-inline wp-image-5853300\" data-lazy-load=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Chase-Bisontis-2-e1774372435274.jpg\" alt=\"Giants predicted to select Texas A&amp;M guard Chase Bisontis in the NFL draft\" width=\"782\" height=\"441\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5853300\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GettyThe Chargers could revamp the offensive line in the draft<\/p>\n<p>The Los Angeles Chargers have made additions to the offensive front, but the left guard spot remains wide open. <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/los-angeles-chargers\/chargers-los-key-offensive-lineman-to-browns\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Zion Johnson<\/a>, who held the LG spot last season for the Bolts, has left the organization and is now with the <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/cleveland-browns\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cleveland Browns<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" title=\"Cole Strange\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/cole-strange\/\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"221592\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cole Strange<\/a> started his career at left guard, but most recently played at the right guard spot in the 2025 season, with head coach Jim Harbaugh mentioning that the <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/los-angeles-chargers\/chargers-jim-harbaugh-reveals-oline-strange\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">expectation is for<\/a> Strange to become the starter at the RG role.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NFL<\/a> Network\u2019s Ian Rapoport, the Chargers are set to meet with Texas A&amp;M guard Chase Bistonis on an NFL 30 visit.<\/p>\n<p>Bistonis has played 36 games across three collegiate seasons with the Aggies, earning a third-team All-SEC in the 2025 season at the left guard spot, allowing just one sack. The O-line recorded a 70.7 pass block grade from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/ncaa\/players\/chase-bisontis\/172570\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Pro Football Focus<\/a> in his final collegiate season.<\/p>\n<p>NFL analyst Lance Zierlein calls the player a \u201ctough, well-schooled guard\u201d with heavy hands and good footwork.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s consistent as a move\/zone blocker and when working downhill,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/prospects\/chase-bisontis\/32004249-5372-8645-6b45-2c7f24fa2511\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Zierlein wrote<\/a>. \u201cWhile he provides poise and good technique as a run blocker, there are slight levels of anxiety\/hurry in his pass protection, with his lack of length a contributing factor. In general, his protection meets the mark and pairs nicely with his run blocking. Bisontis projects as a future starter with plenty of upside.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chargers Expect to Take Offensive Lineman<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5758653\" class=\"size-inline wp-image-5758653\" data-lazy-load=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2253836473-e1770476463259.jpg\" alt=\"Mike McDaniel\" width=\"782\" height=\"442\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5758653\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GettyMike McDaniel will be the offensive coordinator for the Bolts in the 2026 season, replacing Greg Roman<\/p>\n<p>Other positions on the Los Angeles Chargers roster need work, including the defensive end spot. Still, it appears more than likely that the Bolts will take an interior offensive lineman with the 22nd overall pick.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/draft2026\/story\/_\/id\/48428742\/2026-nfl-draft-latest-buzz-rumors-news-mocks-predictions-jets-lions-chargers-panthers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">According to ESPN\u2019<\/a>s Jordan Reid,\u00a0 as many as three interior O-linemen could be taken in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
