However, the Patriots&#8217; showing interest in young quarterbacks is great news for Drake Maye fans.<\/p>\n<p>This indicates that the team no longer feels like a veteran presence is needed in the room for the 23-year-old to learn from. Last season, the Patriots&#8217; need for a veteran backup cost them nearly $4 million in the form of Josh Dobbs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>If this is no longer an area of need for New England, a rotating crew of UDFA project players could be nearly a quarter of the price. The Kansas City Chiefs are an example of a team that shares this luxury.
