As the draft approaches with less than two weeks away, speculation is running rampant.

One NFL Draft expert shed light on three moves he believes the Washington Commanders will make.

NFL Draft expert Jordan Reid predicts three moves for the Washington Commanders

Nobody knows what any team will do, but ESPN’s Jordan Reid took a swing at what he believes the Commanders will do, including drafting a WR and a CB in the top-100, and trying to trade back for more picks.

Two weeks until the NFL draft 🚨👀

Our NFL reporters answer questions for every team and weigh in with some new intel on picks and moves ✍️ https://t.co/YoU4ZWNQ6a

— ESPN (@espn) April 9, 2026

All are strong options that the Commanders need to consider with WR and CB being their weakest positions, and of course, they lack draft capital in the top-100.

The Washington Commanders need to draft a WR

After failing to land a top WR in free agency, the Commanders need to find another outside WR and an impactful slot WR as well. Brandon Aiyuk will likely be on the way closer to June 1st, so it wouldn’t surprise me if a slot WR is their top priority. They’ve done a lot of homework on the top slot WRs in Makai Lemon, Omar Cooper Jr, and late-round options as well.

They could very well take Carnell Tate at No. 7 overall as well, as the future for the position room. Regardless, this could be Terry McLaurin’s final season in Washington, and Jayden Daniels needs more help on offense.

The Washington Commanders need to draft a CB

The CB room is in a similar state to the WR room, just not nearly as bad. The Commanders have checked in on starting outside CBs like Malik Muhammad and Daylen Everette, but also nickel CBs like Keionte Scott. After signing Amik Robertson, they now have two sub-5-10 CBs who can play inside and outside, but don’t dominate at either.

Trey Amos looks to be the part on one side of the field, but they need another sure starter on the outside as a lockdown CB. Mansoor Delane or Gerald McCoy could be in play if they trade back a few spots, or wait until pick No. 71 overall to land Muhammad or Everette.

Trading back might be the best move for the Commanders

The Washington Commanders only have two picks in the top-100, and it’s rumored to be a trade-heavy first round this year, especially in the top-10. If a player like Rueben Bane or Carnell Tate falls to No. 7 overall, the Commanders could very likely have a trade-back partner on the phone.

They can trade back a few picks and still land a player like Caleb Downs or Makai Lemon. The Commanders could also take a massive leap back, take a player like Omar Cooper Jr. in the teens, and collect a haul of picks. The roster still has a long way to go, and needs to get younger with more top-100 prospects who can make an impact.

Washington Commanders News

Commanders are showing strong interest in versatile playmaker who would be perfect 2026 NFL Draft pick to fix major need

The Washington Commanders have six picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, and they have to nail as many of them as possible.
