Instead, they could have a second-round grade on them.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"76\">&#8220;The inconsistencies of Peter Woods (Clemson) throughout the season and during the predraft process have caused most teams I have spoken with to put an early-to-mid second-round mark on him,&#8221; Reid reported. &#8220;Kayden McDonald (Ohio State) has mixed reviews because of his lack of pass-rushing ability; many teams wouldn&#8217;t use a first-round pick on a two-down interior defender.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"79\">This means that there&#8217;s a scenario where the Bears could opt to trade back, whether that be later into the first or early into the second, acquire another pick and still get one of them.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-8\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7c\">Talk about a win-win scenario for Chicago.<\/p>\n<p>Bears shouldn&#8217;t draft Peter Woods<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/01kny4886zmqc8skz61d.jpg\" alt=\"Clemson defensive lineman Peter Woods (11) during the second quarter at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, S.C.\" title=\"Clemson defensive lineman Peter Woods (11) during the second quarter at Memorial Stadium in Clemson, S.C.\" width=\"2417\" height=\"2417\" class=\"undefined w-full w-full blur-[5px]\" q:id=\"7p\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Clemson defensive lineman Peter Woods. | Ken Ruinard \/ USA Today Network South Carolina \/ USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-11\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7t\">Woods has had a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/bears\/onsi\/news\/chicago-bears-2026-nfl-draft-peter-woods-evaluation-scheme-fit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">disastrous pre-draft process<\/a> that saw him not take part in the NFL Scouting Combine and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.postandcourier.com\/sports\/clemson\/clemson-football-peter-woods-nfl-draft\/article_68e42786-a0b9-4441-bece-0c849dc3878f.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">do very little at the Clemson Pro Day<\/a> because of a hamstring injury. All of this comes after the lineman had a down year in his final collegiate season.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-12\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7w\">&#8220;Advertised as a big, athletic tackle, Woods performed poorly last season and has not distinguished himself during the predraft process,&#8221; Essentially Sports&#8217; Tony Pauline, who has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/daniel-jeremiah-2026-nfl-mock-draft-2-0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">dropped Woods from No. 18 to No. 30 on his draft board<\/a>, wrote. <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-13\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7z\">&#8220;After not working out at the combine, where he measured 6-foot-2.5 and 298 pounds, Woods ran two 10-yard splits during pro day (timing a best of 1.67 seconds) and never completed the 40 due to an alleged left hamstring strain. He also touched 29 inches in the vertical jump, a number that certainly does not put him in the category of &#8216;big and athletic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-14\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"82\">Woods has shown promise as an interior pass-rusher, and his versatility is intriguing, but he isn&#8217;t someone who figures to be a one-man wrecking ball by any stretch and he lacks dominance in the run game, which is not a good fit for what Chicago needs. <\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-15\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"85\">There are just too many red flags here to be comfortable with Chicago taking Woods at any spot.<\/p>\n<p>Bears should draft Kayden McDonald<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/01kny4g8mppzrzxtbjbz.jpg\" alt=\"Ohio State Buckeyes defensive lineman Kayden McDonald (98) reacts before the 2025 Big Ten championship game\" title=\"Ohio State Buckeyes defensive lineman Kayden McDonald (98) reacts before the 2025 Big Ten championship game\" width=\"2309\" height=\"2309\" class=\"undefined w-full w-full blur-[5px]\" q:id=\"8i\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Ohio State Buckeyes defensive lineman Kayden McDonald. | Trevor Ruszkowski-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-18\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"8m\">McDonald has more game-wrecking potential up the middle than Woods does.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-19\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"8p\">According to Pro Football Focus, the Ohio State product&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/ncaa\/players\/kayden-mcdonald\/170258\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">92.0 run defense grade last season<\/a> was tops in the nation, so he has clear potential to be an elite run-stuffer at the next level.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-20\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"8s\">He only posted three sacks during his collegiate career, all of which came in 2025, and that&#8217;s definitely not a strong suit to McDonald&#8217;s game. But the Bears can take the trade-off if McDonald can be an impact player against the run.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-21\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"8v\">Take this for what it&#8217;s worth, but McDonald believes the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/bears\/onsi\/news\/ohio-state-prospect-bold-statement-bears-interest-2026-nfl-draft\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Bears have shown enough interest<\/a> to think he&#8217;s their &#8220;No. 1 guy&#8221; late in the first round and we have no reason not to believe him.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-22\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"8y\">\u201cThey\u2019ve talked to me a lot,\u201d McDonald said<a href=\"https:\/\/chicago.suntimes.com\/bears\/2026\/03\/25\/as-ohio-state-star-kayden-mcdonald-prepares-to-visit-bears-he-says-im-their-no-1-guy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">. \u201cI\u2019m their No. 1 guy. That\u2019s what I feel like. They seem very excited to get me up there. They say they like how I play and they like my motor. I play all four quarters, and I\u2019m relentless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-23\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"91\">Obviously, the most ideal scenario is the Bears trading back and getting McDonald with a later pick, but that would be a risky bet with the Buffalo Bills sitting at No. 26 and in need of a run-stuffer like the Bears are.
