Along with being current sports radio icons, Dan Patrick and Rich Eisen were star anchors for the SportsCenter glory years on ESPN.<\/p>\n
Last August, Eisen hosted SportsCenter<\/a> for the first time since 2003, ahead of The Rich Eisen Show joining Disney and ESPN platforms<\/a>. Eisen\u2019s SportsCenter performance was very well-received<\/a>. And on Sunday night into Monday morning at midnight ET, Eisen will host SportsCenter from Bristol<\/a>, CT, for the first time in 23 years. He hasn\u2019t even been back to the ESPN headquarters since then.<\/p>\n On Friday, Eisen appeared on The Dan Patrick Show to talk about the upcoming SportsCenter appearance (and also to send well wishes<\/a> to longtime producer of The Dan Patrick Show, Seton O\u2019Connor, who is leaving his on-air role<\/a>).<\/p>\n \u201cWell, this is what they didn\u2019t tell you,\u201d Patrick told Eisen, jokingly. \u201cI\u2019m going to be co-hosting with you Sunday night on SportsCenter.\u201d<\/p>\n While Patrick was kidding, Eisen made it clear that he would \u201clove to do something like that.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBy the way, that would make my day, night, and year to do another SportsCenter with you, Dan,\u201d Eisen, a SportsCenter anchor from 1996 to 2003, said. \u201cIf you\u2019re up for it, I would love to do something like that, one day.\u201d<\/p>\n \ufeff<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s too late for me,\u201d Patrick, a SportsCenter anchor from 1989 to 2006, said.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, it\u2019s not!\u201d Eisen responded.<\/p>\n \u201cHow about an ESPNews shift, like at two in the afternoon?\u201d Patrick countered.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, it\u2019s not too late for you,\u201d Eisen added. \u201cCome on now. Don\u2019t say that.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI used to drink four 20 oz. bottles of Coca-Cola every night just so I would be alive at 11 o\u2019clock,\u201d Patrick explained. \u201cThe problem was when I got to midnight, and I was still alive, and I wouldn\u2019t get to bed until two in the morning\u2026 I was so worried I wouldn\u2019t have energy on SportsCenter, that I would be chugging Coca-Cola throughout the night. And I\u2019d get home, and I would be wired!\u201d<\/p>\n Patrick has been vocal about how he \u201ccan\u2019t imagine how difficult\u201d being a SportsCenter anchor is<\/a> these days. Additionally, Patrick and Eisen have each admitted to having recurring dreams about their SportsCenter days<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI dream that I\u2019m going to the set and I\u2019m not prepared,\u201d Patrick told Eisen in 2023.<\/p>\n So, getting Patrick to go along with it might take some strong convincing from Eisen. But we\u2019d love to see it.
