There have been some questions about whether the Chicago Bears would consider adding a cornerback in the 2026 NFL Draft, but they might have another option to consider.<\/p>\n
Chicago lost four starters in the secondary this offseason, including Kevin Byard, Jaquan Brisker, Nahshon Wright, and C.J. Gardner-Johnson. With those guys gone now, the Bears have to consider options to add some talent to the secondary.<\/p>\n
One option could be Indianapolis Colts veteran cornerback Kenny Moore II, who requested a trade from the team, and the team agreed to seek a trade for him<\/a>. Moore has played for the Colts since they drafted him in 2017, earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2021.<\/p>\n Kenny Moore might be a decent option for Bears in secondary<\/p>\n The Bears are limited in what they can do with the roster at this moment, as they need to create some cap space to do anything. Chicago currently has under $1 million in cap space.<\/p>\n Moore is a great veteran to add for the team as he has started 111 games in his NFL career, but is coming off an off year where he had just 55 tackles, the least he has had since his rookie season. The Colts started him in only seven of the 14 games he appeared in.<\/p>\n There could be a chance to bring in Moore to potentially place him in the slot. Kyler Gordon has been the starting nickel corner for the Bears, but there have been talks about moving him to safety with Coby Bryant<\/a>. Tyrique Stevenson and Jaylon Johnson are the outside corners for the Bears going into the 2026 season.<\/p>\n As for trade compensation for Moore, the Bears would only really have to give up potentially a Day 3 draft pick for him, which is cheap. Moore is entering the final year of his three-year, $30 million contract, so the Bears would have to work with him on some kind of restructure as he would have a $13.1 million cap hit for 2026.<\/p>\n
