The team lost both their backups, Isaiah Likely and Charlie Kolar, in free agency.

The Ravens have made one addition at that spot thus far. They signed Durham Smythe back in March, but he’ll be the main blocking tight end. They are still without a reliable pass-catching target to back up Mark Andrews.

The answer to that need could be Green Bay Packers tight end Luke Musgrave. The 25-year-old has fallen behind Tucker Kraft and failed to impress after Kraft’s season ended prematurely with an ACL tear. With Kraft expected to be back ready for Week 1, Musgrave could be out the door. Baltimore should be one of the top landing spots if Green Bay makes a trade.

Baltimore Ravens could be a top landing spot for stalled young weapon

In a recent article for Last Word on Sports, Anthony Palacios speculated that while the Miami Dolphins are likely the top fit for Musgrave, the Ravens could get involved. Palacios wrote:

“Meanwhile, the Ravens don’t need a starting tight end, but Isaiah Likely is gone, so they need to target a backup. Mark Andrews ultimately may have won the job, but the team can’t afford to lean all of the responsibility on him. Musgrave won’t start anytime soon in Baltimore, but it gives him a fresh start under Lamar Jackson and Jesse Minter.”

The Packers already made one trade this offseason, dealing wideout Dontayvion Wicks to the Philadelphia Eagles for a 2026 fifth-round pick and 2027 sixth-round pick. If Wicks, who’s been decent, got that in return, Musgrave shouldn’t garner too much at all. He’d be a buy-low, high-upside trade candidate.

The Ravens should certainly try to force Green Bay’s hand to make a second trade ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft. The draft always pours gas on trade rumors, and with 11 selections, the Ravens would be silly not to try to use one or two of those to acquire an NFL-ready contributor like Musgrave.

Musgrave hasn’t really done much in his NFL career. In 35 games and 22 starts, he’s totaled just 65 receptions, 649 yards, and one touchdown. There’s reason to believe he could still be a solid backup, though. In Baltimore, where they don’t have a suitable backup to Andrews, Musgrave could be an immediate contributor, while also holding potential as a future starter if all goes well.

It’d be a great system to join, too. New offensive coordinator Declan Doyle utilized two tight ends effectively with the Chicago Bears last year. Maybe he could do the same with Andrews and Musgrave.

Green Bay doesn’t necessarily have to trade Musgrave. However, as he enters the last year of his contract, still having failed to impress, they could look to continue adding to their draft capital by dealing him. If they actually speculate moving him, the Ravens should be on the phone.

Although most of the focus around the Baltimore Ravens’ search for offensive help this offseason has been on…

[2052
184,117,2282,7,6,169
0":"post-864875","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-baltimore-ravens","8":"tag-baltimore","9":"tag-baltimore-ravens","10":"tag-baltimoreravens","11":"tag-football","12":"tag-nfl","13":"tag-ravens
["GET
