Bringing back their entire starting unit from a season ago, including star <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/amarius-mims\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Amarius Mims<\/a>, that seems like a reasonable goal to have too.<\/p>\n<p>Bengals offensive line coach Scott Peters knows that his unit needs to take another step forward. Discussing that next step for Mims, in particular, on the Bengals Booth Podcast, he made some interesting comments. That included that Mims has a \u201clicense to kill\u201d this upcoming season.<\/p>\n<p>Scott Peters Wants Amarius Mims to Bring the Right Attitude to the 2026 Season<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5902650\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5902650\" data-lazy-load=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2234367441.jpg\" alt=\"Amarius Mims Cincinnati Bengals\" width=\"782\" height=\"441\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5902650\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GettyCincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Amarius Mims<\/p>\n<p>While saying that a player has a license to kill can seem strong, it\u2019s about the attitude that Scott Peters wants to see Amarius Mims play with. As he explained during his appearance on Bengals Booth Podcast, it\u2019s about pushing the young lineman to be the best he can be.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\">\u201cTotal domination. It\u2019s license to kill. I mean, seriously. I said last year, you\u2019ve got to be greedy about how good you could be. Because, you know, there\u2019s very few humans walking planet Earth that have the potential and the talent, really the talent that he has, and has the makeup that he has, the ability athletically, the physical stature, the size, the power, the strength, the movement skills, and for him, it\u2019s time to really kind of let the world know,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/bengals-booth-podcast-fine-line\/id1278501610?i=1000760380993\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Peters said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-secondary my-f-1.5\">\u201cHe\u2019s\u00a0got a license to kill. Hey, you know, sometimes when\u00a0you\u2019re\u00a0a big guy growing up, everybody tells you,\u00a0\u2018Hey,\u00a0don\u2019t break anything. Hey, Amarius, break something man,\u00a0let\u2019s\u00a0go.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0time to go. You can push the limit. Man, we want to see what you can do.\u2019 So\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0starting to see that, and I think that for him, just watching his ability shine through, and\u00a0that\u2019s when the game becomes a lot of fun for him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A first-round pick in the 2024 <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/sports\/nfl\/\" title=\"NFL\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\" data-wpil-monitor-id=\"223552\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NFL<\/a> Draft, Mims is now getting ready for his third season in the NFL. In that short career, he\u2019s already proved to be incredibly important for the Bengals, having played in 32 games over that time. That\u2019s helped him total 1,885 snaps. Now, he wants to jump into the ranks of the elite tackles in the game.<\/p>\n<p>PFF Chose Amarius Mims as a Breakout Candidate in 2026<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5902656\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5902656\" data-lazy-load=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/GettyImages-2156103390.jpg\" alt=\"Amarius Mims Cincinnati Bengals\" width=\"782\" height=\"441\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-5902656\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">GettyCincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Amarius Mims<\/p>\n<p>At the end of January, PFF made a bold proclamation, calling for Amarius Mims to be a breakout candidate in 2026. This came as he had emerged as the anchor of the Cincinnati Bengals\u2019 offensive line, and the team seemed to take a major step forward along that unit later in the 2025 season.<\/p>\n<p>Dalton Wasserman of PFF wrote up why they were so bullish on Mims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter a season and a half full of consistent struggles, Mims may have turned a corner late in the season, potentially changing the complexion of Cincinnati\u2019s offensive line,\u201d Wasserman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pff.com\/news\/nfl-early-2026-breakout-candidates-every-nfl-team\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">wrote<\/a>. \u201cFrom Week 12 through Week 18, Mims earned an 81.0 PFF overall grade that ranked 13th among qualified offensive tackles. He also did not allow a sack across his final eight games of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It would be great if Mims could take another step forward in his career. Not only would it make it easier to run the ball and keep <a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/nfl\/player\/joe-burrow\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external nofollow\">Joe Burrow<\/a> standing, but it would take pressure off the rest of the offensive line as well.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/heavy.com\/author\/danmorr96\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dan Morrison<\/a> After graduating from UMass in 2019, Dan Morrison quickly began a career in sports journalism and digital media.
