The New England Patriots are showing some interest in potential backup quarterbacks in this year\u2019s NFL Draft. After previously hosting Kansas\u2019 Jalon Daniels on a visit, another passer recently revealed that he had been to the Patriots\u2019 Gillette Stadium facility.<\/p>\n

\u201cI visited the Green Bay Packers, Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, and the Jets as well. It\u2019s been a fun process,\u201d Morton told<\/a> Justin Melo of Sports Illustrated. \u201cI saw some incredible facilities and met some incredible coaches.\u201d<\/p>\n

Projected as a late-round selection or possible free agent, Morton is entering the NFL after spending five seasons with the Aggies. During that time, the 6-foot-2, 221-pounder saw action in 45 games with 36 starts. He completed 62.8% of his pass attempts for 8,986 yards with 71 touchdowns and 28 interceptions, while also scoring seven rushing TDs.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old also was voted a team captain each of his last two seasons in College Station, and three times was named an honorable All-Big 12 mention. However, he also missed a combined nine games over the last four seasons due to injury, including two because of a leg issue in 2025.<\/p>\n

New England is entering the draft with two quarterbacks on its roster. MVP runner-up Drake Maye enters his third season as a pro as the team\u2019s undisputed starter, with veteran Tommy DeVito the projected No. 2 after signing a two-year contract extension earlier in the offseason.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The New England Patriots are showing some interest in potential backup quarterbacks in this year\u2019s NFL Draft.
