Chiefs Kingdom is a tight-knit community, and fans were in mourning after learning of the death of Arrowhead Pride managing editor John Dixon. Dixon had written for Arrowhead Pride, a site dedicated to the Chiefs, shortly after its inception and took over as the boss when The Star hired Pete Sweeney as Chiefs Insider.<\/p>\n
An obituary said Dixon died Wednesday at age 68 after battling cancer. A visitation is planned for Tuesday (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.) with a Celebration of Life to take place Wednesday at 2 p.m. Both will be at Newcomer\u2019s White Chapel, 6600 NE Antioch Road in Gladstone.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a gifted journalist and avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, John covered the team for broadcast and online channels across three decades,\u201d the obituary noted. \u201cMost recently, he proudly served as the Managing Editor for Arrowhead Pride, a nationally recognized online publication dedicated to the Chiefs. John was one of the first Chiefs fans to contribute to Arrowhead Pride when it launched, cementing his journeyman story within an organization he cared so much about.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHis patience with others, even on the internet, was a model we can all learn from,\u201d a fan wrote on Arrowhead Pride. \u201cI\u2019m sure I\u2019m not the only one who would be a better person by following the examples of John. \u201cNext time I\u2019m about to fire off a snarky reply, I will remember John and I will cool it down a notch. You will be missed by people who never even met you, John Dixon.\u201d<\/p>\n
