Brown isn’t part of their equation for 2026. We have some answers now. Friday’s trade for Packers veteran Dontayvion Wicks was the latest one. They’d already signed Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore. And they have six of the first 137 picks in a receiver-deep draft. Now, to expect any one of those three—or a rookie—to be what A.J. Brown has been for the team would be stupid. But put together, they’re complementary pieces to place around DeVonta Smith and at least make the idea of dealing their three-time All-Pro receiver without turning the position into a weakness feasible. And I really like Wicks, for what it’s worth. He’s a big-bodied receiver with a lot of untapped potential. He has never had so much as a single 100-yard game, but that was also the case with Romeo Doubs, who just signed a three-year, $51 million deal with the Patriots. Those two were together with Christian Watson and Jayden Reed the past three years in Green Bay, and last year top-100 picks Matthew Golden and Savion Williams joined that fray as well. The logjam created a fight for snaps, and also an idea among rival evaluators that there might be more meat on the bone with these guys. So maybe Wicks will break out in Philly (the team gave him a one-year extension to protect itself, if that happens), maybe he won’t. Either way, he’s a good player to have in the mix at a baseline, and a good get for a fifth-round pick this year and a sixth-rounder in 2027. That also gives the Eagles the flexibility to move Brown. Whether they will remains to be seen, at least for probably another seven weeks or so.

Green Bay Packers News: Remembering Dontayvion Wicks’ highlights – Acme Packing Company
If you followed Acme Packing Company or our podcast feed during the 2023 season, you probably remember the season of Dontayvion Wicks. Wicks consistently crushed his over/under numbers on receiving yardage during the second half of his rookie season, posting 40 or more yards in six of the final eight games in his rookie season. Wicks was a fun player for the Packers at times over the last three years and he delivered some memorable moments. In fact, he had a two-touchdown game against each of the Packers’ NFC North division rivals; his first game in the 2023 season finale against the Chicago Bears, then he repeated that feat against the Vikings in 2024 and then the Lions on Thanksgiving Day this past season. Yes, Wicks dealt with drops, particularly in his second season. And although he was usually just a tertiary option in the passing game — he averaged just 3.9 targets per game — he had a very solid success rate when catching the ball regularly.

Examining the Eagles’ new-look wide receiving corps – PhillyVoice
WR2 Dontayvion Wicks: If we’re just looking at who is currently on the roster (minus A.J. Brown), Wicks would probably be the WR2 over Marquise Brown. He’s younger, the Eagles invested more in him than they did in Brown, he is under contract for two years vs. one for Brown, and he seemingly already has the trust of offensive coordinator Sean Mannion. But more importantly, Wicks is a hard-nosed, rugged player who offers far more as a blocker in the run game than Brown does. How much that actually should matter is debatable, but my sense is that it will matter a lot in this new scheme. Of course, if Wicks is going to have that kind of elevated role, he must curtail his dropped pass issues, as noted in the player review we published of him on Saturday.

2026 NFL Draft position rankings: Interior offensive line – BGN
Realistically, the Eagles could look for a guard high in the draft and it would make sense. Brown intrigue increases as NFL draft nears – ESPN
The draft represents a bit of a pressure point, though, given its ability to alter a franchise’s perspective on its personnel. As an example: The New England Patriots are widely considered the favorite to acquire Brown. But what if the board falls a certain way and they feel compelled to take a receiver early? That would mean they’d have invested not only, say, a first-round pick in the position this offseason but also a good deal of money after inking Romeo Doubs to a four-year, $68 million contract in free agency. Would they be as eager to hand over significant resources to land Brown? There is something to be said for making a deal while you still have a dance partner. If general manager Howie Roseman feels convicted in the strategy of waiting until June despite those variables, we could be in for another month-plus of Brown speculation. Still, the Eagles would need to move forward with the business of building out their team.

Sunday Draft Talk – Iggles Blitz
The draft is getting closer. Less than two weeks until we finally get to see Howie Roseman’s plan for the future. And that is the key word. The draft is about the future. The Eagles could go play a game next week with the players already in place. The draft is about finding the guys for 2027 and beyond. That isn’t to say the rookies won’t contribute. They absolutely need to. But the real focus is how they fit into future plans rather than this season. That’s why OT is the likely first round pick. The Eagles are set for now, but need someone ready to take over for Lane Johnson in a year or two. You draft that guy now to get him ready. Lane was up and down as a rookie because he was forced to play right away. He developed into an elite player.

Next Woman Up: Jennifer Mastrangelo, Operations Administration Manager for the Philadelphia Eagles – NFL.com
Women are rising up the ranks throughout professional football, earning positions of power in a space that for too long was ruled almost exclusively by men. He is their best defensive player, and that would mean seeing yet another popular star player walk out their door. It would also create a massive hole on the defensive line. With Lawrence’s recent trade request, though, we have to consider the possibility that a trade could happen. If the Giants did trade Lawrence, it would make sense for them to do that before the 2026 NFL Draft, now less than two weeks away. With that in mind, this week’s seven-round Giants mock draft considers what it might look like if the Giants did trade Lawrence, their longest-tenured player. Rather than use the trade I made in the SB Nation Writer’s Mock Draft, I decided to use the same trade scenario SB Nation’s Doug Farrar used in his recent seven-round Giants mock draft. Farrar sent Lawrence to the Los Angeles Chargers for picks 22, 55, and a 2027 second-round pick.

Social Media Information:

BGN Facebook Page: Click here to like our page

BGN Twitter: Follow @BleedingGreen

BGN BlueSky: Follow @bleedgreennation.bsky.social

BGN Instagram: Follow @BleedingGreenInsta

BGN Manager: Follow Brandon Lee Gowton on Twitter | BlueSky | Threads

BGN Radio Twitter: Follow @BGN_Radio

Each day, we highlight a BGN community post here in this space.
