The Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> will enter the NFL draft armed with two first-round picks for general manager Brett Veach to use, with the roster undergoing a reset of sorts.<\/p>\n

We have seen the Chiefs move on from two-star corners in Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, so some think the franchise will address corner with their first pick.<\/p>\n

But the pass rush is also an area of need.<\/p>\n

And for\u00a0NFL.com’s Gennaro Filice, the Chiefs trade up from No. 9 to No. 6 to take Miami edge Rueben Bain Jr.<\/p>\n

“Kansas City sends Cleveland its third-round pick (No. 74 overall) to leap up three slots and grab a defender who nearly single-handedly wrecked this past season\u2019s College Football Playoff,” Filice wrote<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Chiefs a fascinating watch in NFL Draft<\/p>\n

It isn’t likely that the Chiefs will be in this position again any time soon, so it puts a lot of pressure on Veach to nail these two first-round picks.<\/p>\n

Given the defensive needs, and you could say offensive ones as well (maybe a receiver?), the Chiefs can, in theory, address both in the first round.<\/p>\n

Having missed out on the playoffs last season, the Chiefs have had ample time to address the weaknesses in the roster and will be looking to make sure what transpired in 2025 doesn’t happen again.<\/p>\n

And trading up to select Bain is a good way to ensure the Chiefs have a bona fide pass rush in 2026.<\/p>\n
