The veteran quarterback could become the Los Angeles Rams’ all-time passing leader, for starters.

Through 74 games with the team, Stafford has thrown for 19,407 yards, having passed Jared Goff and Norm Van Brocklin during the 2025 season. He is 4,351 yards from matching Jim Everett for the top spot. The full top four is currently as follows:

Stafford undoubtedly has some work to do before catching Everett. During his five seasons in L.A., he’s only surpassed the 4,000-yard mark twice — the 2021 Super Bowl season and last year. He fell shy of the mark in 2023 and ‘24, and has averaged 3,881 passing yards through his time in Hollywood.

Then, two more passing touchdowns and Stafford will pass Everett for second all-time. He is only 13 touchdowns away from tying Gabriel for the most in team history. It should be easy for him to surpass that mark, given he’s averaged around 28 TD passes in his five-year career in Los Angeles.

Amazingly enough, Stafford is the seventh signal caller to throw at least 100 touchdown passes on two different teams, joining Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Kurt Warner, Carson Palmer, Fran Tarkenton and Goff. He could become the first to throw 150 with two different franchises. Manning is believed to have held the mark for most TDs by a quarterback playing for their second team until Stafford beat it last season.

It’s truly incredible what Stafford has accomplished throughout his Rams career. His winning an MVP and having a career year at age 37 is reminiscent of Manning doing the same with the Broncos in 2013. Hopefully, Stafford’s encore season will go more smoothly than Manning’s did. The Sheriff steadily declined over the second half of the 2014 campaign, and Denver suffered an early playoff exit in the Divisional Round.

After leading an MVP-like run to the NFC Championship last season, Stafford is well-positioned for a historic encore in 2026. Earning his status as the Rams’ all-time passing leader is certainly well within his sights.

What does Matthew Stafford have in store for an encore following an MVP campaign?
