Jaire Alexander is now offering a glimpse into why he stepped away<\/a> from the Eagles during the middle of the 2025 season. <\/p>\n

The two-time Pro Bowl cornerback opened up in an Instagram post on Tuesday about the \u201cinternal battles\u201d he went through, particularly during his time with the Ravens. <\/p>\n

Alexander, after getting cut by the Packers last year, joined Baltimore on a one-year, $6 million contract and played in two games before he was traded to Philadelphia<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, shortly after the trade, Alexander stepped away from the team because of mental health reasons, Fox Sports reported at the time. The Athletic reported Alexander was also considering his next steps, including a possible retirement.<\/p>\n

The 29-year-old didn\u2019t say directly in his post on Wednesday whether or not he would continue playing football, but it did sound as if his career could be over.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs much as I loved Baltimore, I didn\u2019t love the position I was in,\u201d he wrote in the caption of his post<\/a>. \u201cI had a bunch of internal battles with myself, I didn\u2019t have that confidence in my abilities I once did. At corner you need ultimate confidence in your abilities and I felt it slipping away. It was at this moment I contemplated if I was making the right decision for my career. What helped me get through these times was not only God & my family but I had some really cool teammates who made it fun to be there.<\/p>\n

\u201cI felt as if I let the organization down. My family and friends would drive up to see me and I wasn\u2019t even playing in the games. I never questioned God but why me. All this while having a smile on my face. football is a true gladiator sport, and once the confidence has gone it\u2019s time to hang it up.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also thanked an \u201cEDC\u201d \u2014 which is likely a reference to Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta \u2014 \u201cfor believing in me & the unlimited therapy sessions I had to encounter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alexander was twice selected to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro second team in 2020 and 2022, but injuries limited him to just 14 games over his final two seasons with the Packers. <\/p>\n

He has recorded 12 interceptions and 70 passes defended in his career.<\/p>\n
