After falling short in the playoffs this past season, the Los Angeles Rams<\/a> quickly made moves to bolster the defensive unit. Los Angeles traded for star cornerback Trent McDuffie<\/a>, giving them a shutdown option for the secondary.<\/p>\n

But the Rams didn\u2019t stop there, signing cornerback Jaylen Watson in free agency<\/a>, giving this unit even more firepower. The secondary was one of the bigger problems for the Rams last year, but the issue was quickly addressed by the organization.<\/p>\n

However, if the Rams<\/a> want to make sure that they are the favorites to win the Super Bowl<\/a> next season, adding more depth to the defense could be crucial. We have seen the Los Angeles front office be aggressive in roster building before, and everything could play out very similarly this offseason.<\/p>\n

If the Rams do want to add more depth to the defensive unit this offseason, the team could look to take a flier on veteran cornerback Trevon Diggs<\/a>. Diggs is coming off a season that saw him split time between the Dallas Cowboys<\/a> and Green Bay Packers<\/a>, in what was a tough year for him.<\/p>\n

Over the last few seasons, the veteran cornerback has dealt with some injuries that have limited his time on the field. The overall talent of Diggs isn\u2019t in question, but rather if he can stay healthy throughout a season.<\/p>\n

Diggs hasn\u2019t played in more than 11 games in a season since 2022, which has been an unfortunate narrative for his career. Before all the issues, Diggs was seen as one of the better cornerbacks in the NFL, being able to generate turnovers like nobody else.<\/p>\n

The veteran had 11 interceptions for the Cowboys<\/a> during the 2021 season, paving the way for his First Team All-Pro selection. While Diggs may not get back to this level of production, he is still only 27 years old, giving him a chance to turn his career around.<\/p>\n

So, a team like the Rams could try to take a flier on him, while hoping for the best during the year. At best, Diggs could provide this team with another strong piece to the defense as Los Angeles goes after a Super Bowl title.<\/p>\n

But at worst, the signing doesn\u2019t work out and the Rams can easily cut ties with the veteran. Diggs would likely be signing a \u201cprove-it\u201d style contract anyway, so there really isn\u2019t much risk for an organization like the Rams to bring him into the picture.<\/p>\n

Playing for a Super Bowl contender like the Rams could allow Diggs to be extra motivated to win, and Los Angeles could get extra depth for the year. Diggs would just need to play within the system, and if he could do that, maybe he could re-enter free agency next offseason in the hopes of landing a larger contract.<\/p>\n
