A creative way to fill the New York Jets\u2019<\/a> pass-catching void.<\/p>\n

NFL Insider Connor Hughes<\/a> of SNY released a seven-round mock draft. At the end of the first round, Hughes predicted that the Jets would trade back in to go get a new toy on offense.<\/p>\n

New York Jets receive:\u00a0a 2026 first-rounder (No. 27 overall)<\/p>\n

San Francisco 49ers<\/a> receive:\u00a0a 2026 second-rounder (No. 33 overall) and a 2026 fourth-rounder (No. 103 overall)<\/p>\n

Hughes had the Jets moving up to select Washington wide receiver Denzel Boston<\/a>. Boston, 22, will turn 23 during his rookie season in 2026. He is listed at 6-foot-3 and weighs 212 pounds.<\/p>\n

\u201cTrade! The Jets weren\u2019t leaving this draft without a wideout. There was a chance Boston made it all the way to No. 33, where the Jets could have taken him organically. After [Omar] Cooper<\/a> went No. 25 to the Bears<\/a>, though, it wasn\u2019t worth the risk,\u201d Hughes explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cMougey sends No. 33 and No. 103 to San Francisco for No. 27. Boston is a big-bodied (6-foot-4, 212 pounds) pass catcher who hauled in 62 catches for 881 yards and 11 touchdowns a season ago. He, Garrett Wilson<\/a>, and AD Mitchell<\/a> give Geno Smith<\/a> a nice trio to work with,\u201d Hughes added.<\/p>\n

Assessment of the Trade Value<\/p>\n

According to the NFL draft<\/a> value chart, the 49ers\u2019 No. 27 overall pick is worth 680 points. The Jets\u2019 combo of picks is worth 668 points.<\/p>\n

So this would be a slight discount for the Jets. The 12-point difference in the value chart is the equivalent of a mid-sixth round pick.<\/p>\n

San Francisco only has six picks in this year\u2019s draft. So they will likely be motivated to trade down to accumulate more picks. Specifically, they only have two selections inside the top-126 picks of this draft.<\/p>\n

The Jets Have Boston Interest<\/p>\n

NFL Insider Jordan Schultz revealed that the Jets recently<\/a> hosted Boston for a 30-visit. That certainly shows some level of interest.<\/p>\n

However, ESPN\u2019s Rich Cimini revealed the latest buzz he has been hearing during the latest episode of the \u201cJets Collective\u201d<\/a> podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere is a name that no one is talking about that I\u2019m hearing a lot lately: Denzel Boston. File that one away, fellas,\u201d Cimini said.<\/p>\n

ESPN New York\u2019s Jake Asman asked at pick No. 16 overall.<\/p>\n

Longtime radio personality Brandon Tierney said, \u201cNo, not at 16, right, Rich?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cUhhh, he is moving up. I\u2019m telling you, middle of the first round type guy. 6-foot-4, no injury issues, big red zone target, contested balls,\u201d Cimini said.<\/p>\n

On the consensus big board<\/a>, Boston is ranked the No. 28 overall prospect on the board. Taking Boston at No. 16 overall would be a considerable reach, if you\u2019re to believe what the draft analysts think.<\/p>\n

However, if Cimini is hearing that he could go earlier than that, the Jets are left with few options. You can try to trade back from pick No. 16 overall, but if you get too cute, you\u2019re going to lose your guy. If you try to wait until your next pick at No. 33 overall, he might not be there.<\/p>\n

ESPN\u2019s Peter Schrager<\/a> said on social media, \u201cAll six of these wide receivers should go in the first round. All six could be gone by the time Cleveland is picking [at] 24.\u201d<\/p>\n

That group of six that Schrager referenced includes Carnell Tate<\/a>, Jordyn Tyson<\/a>, Makai Lemon<\/a>, Omar Cooper Jr<\/a>, KC Concepcion, and Denzel Boston.<\/p>\n

All six of these wide receivers should go in the first round. All six could be gone by the time Cleveland is picking up a 24. https:\/\/t.co\/yWb1eZ27nq<\/a>\n<\/p>\n
