If you study how this plays out, with a new head coach, that first pick is almost always on his side of the ball. There’s going to be a run on defensive players after (presumptive first-overall pick, quarterback Fernando) Mendoza, and he’s going to be in it.”

LaCanfora also cited a current general manager who said he also does not see the Titans landing on Love inside the top five.

“I’d be really surprised if they went running back,” the GM said, per LaCanfora.

Commanders Likely to Draft Jeremiyah Love if Opportunity Arises

GettyNotre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love.

Meanwhile, Tony Pauline of Essentially Sports reported that the Commanders feel the exact opposite about picking Love if he falls to them at No. 7, even despite Washington’s many needs on defense including at pass-rusher, linebacker and cornerback.

“Several people tell me the team will jump all over Jeremiyah Love if he falls into their laps, with the direct quote being, ‘The team loves Love,’” Pauline wrote Wednesday. “He’d be an additional weapon for Jayden Daniels, who’s coming off an injury-plagued season, and would end Washington’s running-back-by-committee approach.”

Love finished third in Heisman Trophy voting last season after putting up 1,372 rushing yards and 18 TDs on 6.9 yards per carry.
