After trading for <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2026\/03\/27\/broncos-player-profile-jaylen-waddle\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jaylen Waddle<\/a> in March, the Denver Broncos don\u2019t have any first-round picks in this year\u2019s draft but will make their first pick at No. 62 overall in the second round. ESPN\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/draft2026\/story\/_\/id\/48478995\/2026-nfl-mock-draft-mel-kiper-two-rounds-64-picks-final-predictions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Mel Kiper Jr.<\/a> has Denver taking Florida defensive tackle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-football\/player\/gamelog\/_\/id\/4602019\/caleb-banks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Caleb Banks<\/a> with their first pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith a pretty deep roster, the Broncos can afford to take a bit of a risk. Banks\u2019 talent is more in line with Round 1, but he is dealing with yet another foot injury, which could keep him on the board until the middle part of Day 2,\u201d Kiper wrote. \u201cBanks is a disruptive presence on the interior, and he can stuff the run at 6-6 and 327 pounds. With John Franklin-Myers leaving in free agency, coordinator Vance Joseph could use someone like Banks on the inside.\u201d Here\u2019s more information on the defensive tackle who may slide to the Broncos in the second round.<\/p>\n<p>Southfield High School for the Arts and Technology (Southfield, Michigan) \u2014 Class of 2021<\/p>\n<p>Banks is from Detroit and attended Southfield High School for the Arts and Technology in Southfield, Michigan. At Southfield, A&amp;T Banks recorded 42 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and three sacks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The 6-foot-6, 330-pound defensive tackle was rated a three-star recruit and top 30 defensive lineman in Michigan according to <a href=\"https:\/\/247sports.com\/player\/caleb-banks-46058959\/high-school-225589\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">247sports<\/a>. Banks was also a two-time captain and an SI All-American Candidate in 2020.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rawchili.com\/nfl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/USATSI_28591846.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"2252\" height=\"2220\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-275542\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Louisville (2021-2022)<\/p>\n<p>After originally committing to Arizona State, Banks decommitted and later committed to Louisville to play for <a href=\"https:\/\/gobearcats.com\/staff\/scott-satterfield\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Scott Satterfield<\/a>. As a freshman at Louisville, Banks redshirted but also made his collegiate debut against Syracuse on Nov. 13, 2021.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During his next and final season with the Cardinals, Banks earned more playing time, appearing in six games and recording his first career sack and fumble against Wake Forest on Oct. 29, 2022.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Florida (2023-2025)<\/p>\n<p>Following his sophomore season at Louisville, Satterfield left the team to become the head coach at Cincinnati. As a result, Banks entered the transfer portal after the season and found a new home a few weeks later, deciding to transfer to Florida to play for <a href=\"https:\/\/floridagators.com\/sports\/football\/roster\/coaches\/billy-napier\/1830\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Billy Napier<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In his first season with the Gators, Banks played in every game and started in 11 games, recording 19 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and one sack. Banks made more tackles in his second season at Florida after making 21 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery in 10 starts.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The final season of Banks\u2019 career at Florida wasn\u2019t the prettiest, as he played only three games as a senior after dealing with injuries all season, and two of those were the final games of the season. Banks tallied six tackles in his last season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4039064\/malcolm-roach\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Malcolm Roach<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/3894915\/dj-jones\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">D.J. Jones<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4362524\/jordan-miller\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Jordan Miller<\/a> are the Broncos current defensive tackles on their roster.
