I’ve spent more fall Friday nights than I can count over the last few years sitting on bleachers and yelling\u00a0my lungs out for the Du-Pec Rivermen football team, and I’m shocked to say I love every minute of it.<\/p>\n
My understanding of the game might still be subpar, but I know a talented player when I see one. Quarterback and Captain Lukas Rossow\u00a0is one of those players.<\/p>\n

I may be completely biased, but most people would agree that some\u00a0seriously special football talent has come through\u00a0Du-Pec\u00a0lately. We’ve had awesome seasons the last few years, and I was SO\u00a0proud\u00a0to see this post pop up on my Facebook feed on Thursday:<\/p>\n
First off, this isn\u2019t just another \u201cnice job, kid\u201d award. The Chicago Bears Community High School All-Star Award <\/a>is a pretty big deal.<\/p>\n It recognizes high school football players across Illinois who aren\u2019t just crushing it on the field, but also making a real difference in their schools and communities.\u00a0The award honors\u00a0leadership, character, and service, all the things Lukas Rossow is a shining example of.<\/p>\n Besides maintaining a 4.06 GPA, Lukas Rossow also volunteers at a local food pantry and plays basketball and golf.<\/p>\n
