The 2025 season marked their worst since 2019, and as a result, the team is seemingly undergoing a rebuild. Miami’s new front office decided that the best way to move forward was to tear down the roster and aim for long-term sustainable success.

This offseason, Miami parted ways with Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle, Bradley Chubb, Minkah Fitzpatrick, and others. While there are still some solid pieces on the team, the depth is no longer there.

However, if there is any excitement surrounding the Dolphins, it is likely that the team will feature a new starting quarterback for the first time since the 2021 season. As Tagovailoa’s replacement, the Dolphins signed Malik Willis to a three-year, $67 million contract in free agency. Now, a Miami Dolphins wide receiver has shared his opinion on Willis after they briefly worked out together.

Miami Dolphins’ Jalen Tolbert Shares Feelings on Malik Willis

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jalen Tolbert, who the team signed in free agency to a one-year contract, made an appearance on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, where he shared his thoughts on Malik Willis.

“He’s one of the hardest working people that I’ve been around throughout this process so far. One of the first people in the building every day. And, on the field you can obviously see the ball jumps off his arm,” Tolbert said, “Special arm talent, special player. Can utilize his legs if needed, but he’s definitely grown over the years. Like I said, I’m excited to be a part of the growth that he has coming in front of him, and the opportunity that he has in front of him. He’s working hard for it and taking no day for granted.”

After a year in which many Dolphins fans soured on quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and criticized many of his post-game press conferences, hearing a player speak highly of the team’s quarterback should be a nice change of pace. Of course, despite positive words from his teammate, what matters is Willis’ play on the field. In order for Willis to succeed, he will have to be surrounded by the right talent, which Tolbert will hope to be a part of.

Miami Dolphins Wide Receivers

Tolbert is one of the new faces in the Dolphins wide receiver room. He is coming off a down season with the Dallas Cowboys, where he totaled 203 receiving yards, after previously having a career-high 610 receiving yards in the 2024 season.

However, despite currently being in the top half of the Dolphins’ projected depth chart, that may change following the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. Miami is expected to select at least two wide receivers within the first three rounds, as the team has seven selections inside of the first 100 picks.

Previously, Jeff Hafley told Kay Adams on “Up & Adams,” “We’ve got seven in the first 100 picks. We’ll have receivers for Malik to throw to. The next time you talk after the draft and as we get the players here, I think you’re going to see we’ll get some good ones for him to throw to.”

Jose Esquer Jose Esquer is a Mexican-American sportswriter and communications student based in San Diego, CA.
