He won a national championship with the Crimson Tide in his final year with the team.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/7200871\/2026\/04\/16\/alabama-football-player-fraud-nfl-players-impersonation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">According to The New York Times<\/a>, in a March filing, the U.S. Attorney&#8217;s Office claimed Davis and his co-conspirator posed as three NFL players from May 2023 and October 2024 to obtain at least 13 loans from lenders who believed they were speaking directly with those players. They are Packers safety Xavier McKinney, Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and former Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku.<\/p>\n<p>The pair allegedly went as far as wearing makeup, wigs and durags to disguise themselves the players they were pretending to be.<\/p>\n<p>When the lenders set up Zoom calls with the supposed athletes and notaries to finalize the loan authorizations, Davis allegedly dressed up and provided fake IDs and financial documents to conceal his identity. Those documents included stolen and fabricated driver\u2019s license numbers featuring pictures of the players that were \u201ceasily found online.&#8221;Once the loans were approved, prosecutors said, the funds flowed through a network of sham businesses the pair controlled and into their personal accounts. <\/p>\n<p>Davis and his partner allegedly used the stolen money to purchase real estate, vehicles and jewelry.<\/p>\n<p>Comment with Bubbles<\/p>\n<p>BE THE FIRST TO COMMENT<\/p>\n<p>NBC Sports reported the fake loan obtained in McKinney\u2019s name is the subject of a civil lawsuit between the lender and the broker.
