Aller/Getty Images)

Over the offseason, the Seattle Seahawks lost Coby Bryant, who left the team as a free agent to sign with the Chicago Bears. As a result, the Seahawks need to replace a key member of the Super Bowl LX-winning team.

With the 2026 NFL Draft approaching on April 23, Seattle could look to find the young player who eventually fills the role Bryant once held.

Regarding who could be the right pick to replace the defensive back, Seattle Sports’ Brock Huard shared one compelling name who actually reminds him of Bryant: Former Arizona Wildcats star Treydan Stukes.

“Over 2,500 snaps in his career, and he’s worn those hats and worn them very, very successfully,” Huard said on April 17. “Think, in some ways, Coby Bryant, but much faster… If you’re going to play these teams and we’re going to slow down the Rams, is status quo going to be good enough? Are we going to just roll out the same cast of characters, or maybe even a new face at safety?

“Maybe [Ty] Okada is going to be that guy, and we’re going to roll that out and think the same exact personnel is going to be able to slow down that wagon of the Rams, who are also probably going to add in this draft? Or do you need some new pieces? Where are you drafting this guy? I don’t think he leaves the second round. He’s likely not a first-rounder. He’s going to be somewhere in that second round.”

Seahawks’ Draft Plan Ahead of 2026 NFL Draft

During an April 16 appearance on Seattle Sports, Schneider offered insight into the team’s draft philosophy, which has allowed them to hit on their picks.

“It usually ends up being a combination of [drafting for need and taking the best player available],” Schneider said. “That’s how we grade for our team. We don’t grade for the National Football League. We say, ‘OK, this is our best player for our team.’ That’s kind of where that comes into play.

“Now, are there times when you just can’t pass up a player we think is going to get drafted higher? He comes along, and we have to take him? You’re just taking the best player, and that’s what it comes down to. But as we build this thing, we’re always building it for our team and not the league and not where the players should go.”

Could Seattle Go RB in Round 1?

When it comes to a particular draft prospect, mock drafts and takes suggest that former Notre Dame Fighting Irish star Jadarian Price could be a fit for Seattle in Round 1. In his mailbag column, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer explained why he could see Price being a first-round pick.

“I think it’s possible that Jadarian Price, Jeremiyah Love’s backup at Notre Dame, has an outside shot to sneak in the bottom of the round, on the premise that there is a big dropoff after the two Irish backs go,“ Breer wrote in his April 15 article.

“In other words, if you have a need at the position, you may view Price as your last chance to get a ready-made starter in this year’s class, so you may push him up the board a little bit.”

Eduardo Razo Eduardo Razo is a sports writer for Heavy.com, covering the NFL, MLB, and college football.
