And whether it’s a first-round lock or a sleeper pick, we all have that one draft crush we covet over all others.

So we asked our team here at WCG for the number one guy they want the Bears to draft.

Jacob Infante – I would love Arizona’s Treydan Stukes as a versatile chess piece for the Bears’ secondary in Round 2. He’s a fluid mover in coverage who answered any potential long speed concerns with a 4.33 40-yard dash at the Combine. His ability to play anywhere along the defensive secondary and display sharp processing with a playmaker’s mentality anywhere on the field is extremely enticing.

Donald Gooch – Sam Hecht, C, Kansas State. Like every other Bears fan, I was leveled by the Dalman retirement announcement. It’s hard not to watch Hecht’s game and see a young Dalman in the making. Smart, great zone blocker, can make the line calls. He might drop to the 3rd but I wouldn’t hate it at all if the Bears took him with one of their seconds.

Jeff Berckes – I think this is the year to draft a center (stop me if you’ve heard me say that before). Obviously, I’d love to see a Hawkeye in Logan Jones, but the more you read about Sam Hecht from Kansas State, the more he sounds like a Bear. The last KState offensive lineman the Bears drafted worked out pretty well.

Bryan Orenchuk – Riley Nowakowski, FB/TE, Indiana – Ben Johnson utilizes his 3rd TE in myriad ways. FB, TE, OL, etc. Nowakowski does all those things exceptionally well and has the name to boot. Draft this role player on day 3 and watch him become a locker room AND fan favorite.

Gary Baugher Jr. – I got a few draft crushes, but no one bigger than Toledo safety Emmanuel McNeil-Warren. I’ve been a huge fan of EMW, getting to watch him fairly regularly as a NIU alum and fan of the MACtion in general, I think he brings versatility, size and speed that the Dennis Allen system would love.

Erik Duerrwaechter – Illinois, DE, Gabe Jacas. I can also see him going in the late first round, and #25 is a spot I’m comfortable with taking him at. He’s got a rock-solid game and arguably is the most productive pass rusher with the highest ceiling realistically available for the Bears.

Josh Sunderbruch – Keionte Scott, DB (Miami). Arguably the best run-defending corner in the draft and flexible enough to play multiple spots in Allen’s system, I think he fills multiple needs and addresses a key lack in this roster of guys who can play corner but impact all three levels of game play.

Lester A. Wiltfong Jr. – He’ll either be the second or third safety off the board, so if Oregon’s Dillon Thieneman can make it to 25, I think he’d be a perfect pick. The Bears can address the defensive line on day three, but getting a versatile rookie safety to pair with the versatile Coby Bryant is a must.

Now it’s your turn.
